Chapter 54

Cameron nodded to her every word, and used both of his hands to rub our heads. "You both are so beautiful" he cried. It was so relaxing honestly. And I was grateful that I entered the room, to intervene.

"I give you only three months, Cameron. After three months, the decision will be made. This is your third and last chance. After this, I swear, I'm no longer giving you any more chance" She sounded very serious.

After a while, he kissed her forehead and she let him. I could see he cared about her but he didn't know how to show it, still it didn't justify the emotional and physical abuse he has caused her, for eight or nine years.

If he had a bad temper, he should have fixed it before marrying her. If he didn't know how to love, he should have learnt it before asking her out.

"Baby, can you go to your room? We'll join you later, I promise. Your mother and I will make breakfast together, and serve you in bed" Cameron said to me.

His voice was so gentle, and his smile, so alluring. No wonder he was a popular, highly paid model. He had the looks, the body, the charm and voice. All of them. If only he could add good character to it, he'd be perfect.

I left quietly and shut the door behind me. I couldn't hear them anymore, as soon as the door was shut. I prayed as I opened my door that, they'd reach a favorable conclusion about their marriage.

True to his words, both of them went into the kitchen, an hour later, to make breakfast. I secretly hid and watched them. It was so much fun. Mom was laughing at all the jokes he made even though they were dumb. I think that was the point.

Mom moved awkwardly in the kitchen, because her leg still hurt, and he rubbed her feet and blew air on it each time she hit it on the counter.

He was preparing omolette, pancakes and steak. The aroma was all over the place. I saw him whisk the eggs, and slice the steak and peppers. I didn't know he could cook. Mom just watched him because he wouldn't let her do anything, except measure the quantity of salt and spice to add to the dish.

She was laughing so much that I had to giggle, and so I was caught. I had been hiding behind the kitchen door.

Mom pulled me out of my hiding, as soon as I got caught, and smacked my butt playfully. And before we knew it, everyone of us was laughing our hearts out. It was a dream come true.

"I have a gift for you, after breakfast, darling" Cameron said to her. That immediately reminded me of Robin.

I left them there and returned to my room, with the excuse, "I'll go prepare my teeth for breakfast", when actually I wanted to go check out the gift Robin gave me, on our way home. I had not unwrapped it because I had totally forgotten about it!

I locked the door behind me and hoped I could buy some few minutes to check out this gift on my own, before my parents barged in with breakfast. It was in my box. The one I had carried with me to the camp .

The box was on my wardrobe. I fetched it quickly and brought out the gold wrap. It glistened as I turned it round and round.

"Robin, what could this be?" I said to myself. "I hope I'll love it". I sighed, blushed for few seconds before I finally unwrapped it.

It was a book! A beautiful golden book.

And no, it was no ordinary book. It was one of the millions of books in Robin's library. I knew it because it looked different. It smelt new.

I carefully opened to the first page, and I couldn't read it, because it was written in a language I did not understand. A very strange language.

Are you kidding me, Robin? How do you expect me to read this?

I opened to other pages and it was the same thing. I laughed because he must be crazy to have given me a book I couldn't read.

My parents knocked few minutes after, so I put the book away to answer them. I was going to check it out again, later, and ask him if he was not in his right senses when he gave me that book. He'd have to explain why he did that.

Breakfast was delicious. Lunch was even more delicious.

Around 5pm, Cameron announced that he was going to take us all out for dinner. He promised to carry one of the babies on his shoulder. I didn't want us to go out, because Robinson was coming over. So, I told him

"Can we not go out today? My teacher wants to visit us this evening" I pleaded with them and so, they stayed back.

Mom made a large dinner because we were going to have a visitor but 6.0' clock came and Robinson was not here yet. 7.0' clock, 7.30 pm..and so, we ate dinner alone. My parents stared at me for a response but I couldn't give a reasonable one. I just angrily left dinner, untouched and locked up myself in my room.

There in my room, I found him, sitting comfortably on my chair. He looked happy. Yes, Robin. He was in my room. I looked around to determine how he got in, but as soon as I remembered he was powerful, I stopped looking.

"We are all waiting for you at the table, what are you doing here?" I questioned him. My anger dissolved as soon as I saw him, because he had come after all.

"I wanted to see you first" he said, sitting comfortably on my own chair.

"Why? Oh...to apologize for giving me a wrong book?" I laughed. I stretched my hands to fetch the book from my box again, so as to return it, but he stopped me in time.

"No" he shook his head

"What are you talking about? Do you realize that book is written in a strange language?"

"Open it first"

"What do you mean open it? Are you saying I'm lying now? Do you know how many times I've opened it and got disappointed?" I was shouting at him. Normally I wouldn't be that bold, if I didn't know he liked me. Or if he hadn't protected me a number of times.

"Just open it again" he said, and clasped his arms underneath his jaw, watching me do the needful.

To my utmost amazement, when I eventually did open it, the book had words boldly inscribed in English. Every page was written in English. I closed it, and opened it again to be sure I was not imagining it.

"W .wh...what?" I exclaimed.

"Now you can read it, right?" He said, with a grin on his face, and he immediately disappeared.

"Wa..wait, wait, Robin, oh damn!" I hit my head in frustration because he was gone.

"Robin! Robinson!" I looked around, went out of my room towards the dining room and saw him at the main door knocking. Mom got up to open the door for him.

"Ariana! Your teacher is here, oh my God, Ariana!" She called. I came out slowly to join them. Despite that I've seen him vanish a number of times, it still amazed me. How did he leave my room to the door in a matter of seconds, without using my door?

He must be so powerful. He did say he was a human with a difference. What more could a werewolf do?
