Chapter 3

Aurora had groaned as she heard how her alarm had gone off. Exhaling she stood up and disabled her alarm as she had switched on her bedroom light. Waking up at 5am had become part of her routine. She had woken up, got ready for the day that was coming, ate breakfast with her father and then he would drive her to college just to pick her up again at 4pm.

Aurora had exhaled as she had decided to put in a little bit of effort with her look today. She had barely ever went with something over the top for her day-to-day look, but today she was feeling it. She had grabbed a black dress with a blue-and-white flannel shirt and brown heeled boots. She had put on some light makeup before she had gone out of her room and immediately saw her mother.

"Don't you look nice today. Any special occasion?" Sophia asked as Aurora had shaken her head.

"Maybe. It's Wednesday, isn't it?" Aurora said as her mother had looked at her completely shocked.

"Aurora Jane Wincott, why didn't you say anything? Elijah, we forgot our little girl's 20th birthday," Sophia said as Elijah looked at her.

"Sweetheart, why didn't you say anything?" Elijah asked as Aurora grabbed a cup of coffee.

"Because I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. It's just another day, Dad," Aurora said.

"No, it's not. You only turn 20 once in your life. Congratulations, sweet girl. I am so sorry we forgot. But usually, you are constantly reminding me. What happened this year?" Elijah asked.

"College. Can we eat and go perhaps?" Aurora asked.

"That cafe next to the college that you always buy yourself something from, let's go and eat there. To make up for us forgetting," Elijah said.

"I want you guys to know that you've given me everything I want in life. I couldn't ask for more," Aurora said as her brother came out of his room.

"Yeah, yeah maybe I remembered. Happy birthday, stupid," Logan said as he gave Aurora a hug and she looked confused at him.

"Thanks brother," Aurora said.

"Don't push your luck. Here. Something for your birthday. And looks like it goes with your outfit as," Logan said as Aurora opened the box.

"Thank you. I love it. Come on, Dad. Let's go and grab that breakfast," Aurora said grabbing her bag as they went out of the house.

Seeing as some of her friends had already waited right outside of the college, Aurora had gotten out of the car, and went into the gate.

"What are you guys doing? Don't you have class or something?" Aurora asked as Olivia gave her a bag.

"Happy birthday you old prune. What are you now? Like 50," Olivia said as Aurora smiled.

"You remembered. Thank you, Olivia," Aurora said.

"Well, guess it's my turn. Happy birthday, Aurora," Noah said as he gave her a hug and she smiled.

"Thank you. I really appreciate it," Aurora said as Emma came out with a bag.

"Happy birthday, Aurora. Thought you weren't getting anything, hey?" Emma said as Aurora looked inside the bag to reveal some toiletries such as shampoo and body wash.

"Thank you. I appreciate it," Aurora said as she saw how Logan had come past.

She exhaled as she saw how he had entered the building and vaguely smiled at her. She shook her head as she had gone up into the same old classroom she was always at as she had switched her computer on.

"What was all of the presents about?" Landon asked as Logan looked at him.

"Seriously, Bro? Isn't it obvious? Happy birthday Aurora. How old are you now?" Logan asked.

"20," Aurora said.

"Oh, gee. Happy birthday then," Landon said as Logan gave her a box.

"It's just something small. Can't talk to someone when it's their birthday without a gift," Logan said as Aurora had opened the bag.

"This is everything but small. Thank you, Logan. I love it," Aurora said.

"Here. Let me help you put it on," Logan said as he took the bracelet out of the box and helped Aurora to put it on.

"There you go," Logan said as Gabriella came into the classroom.

"Here you are. I've looked everywhere. Here you go. Happy 20th, I guess," Gabriella said as Aurora opened the bag.

"I love it. Thank you. Let's do class," Aurora said.
