Combat Log

With the tournament underway, I believe that it's the perfect time to give some details regarding the methods of combat that are about to be utilized in the upcoming fights. As well as a little incentive on what separates the two Hemispheres in terms of this concept. Without further ado, let's take a dive together as I explain the inner workings of combat for this world.

Since we're dealing with primarily the Eastern Hemisphere, you probably got a general idea as to what you'd expect from the combatants of this sector. While they are more hands-on in their approach, they possess a variety of martial styles that suit their species. Very few styles are interchangeable depending on the animal (A talon wielder is capable of learning claw techniques; etc.). The reason to this is to create a diversity among the inhabitants, allowing room for a sense of uniqueness to each species.

To make things a little more interesting, it is due to their natural lifestyle that eventually led to their genesis unlocking a power that resides within all the eastern residents. This power is known as Feral Energy. Only individuals from the Eastern Hemisphere have been able to utilize it, starting from the Five Pillars as they were the first to unlock and spread its teachings to the general public.

To put it into simple terms, it's a form of inner energy that remained dormant until recently. It allows an individual to enhance their capabilities and senses to an extent as higher levels would require strenuous amounts of training to achieve. These can range from being more durable to even surviving a fatal blow. The most notable however lies in the physical manifestation of the energy in order to amplify attacks or even cast it as a projectile. The drawback to this however is that it can leave an individual vulnerable for a period of time if untrained or straight up kill a user if they use too much in a single instance.

All in all, it's a very versatile and yet risky source of power that can be used to benefit or hinder the inhabitants of the Eastern Hemisphere.

Now you may be wondering, 'What does that leave for the Western Hemisphere'? The answer to that is quite simple. Due to their highly advanced and industrious lifestyle, they lack the very means of tapping into Feral Energy. They make up for this in the form of drugs, cybernetic enhancements and if ever needed, bioengineering in the form of mutations; etc. As you can imagine, the drawbacks usually outweigh the benefits both in the long and short term. Bodies can easily reject the modifications, which can kill a person if they don't receive immediate medical care. Malfunctions, Adaptation and Addiction are also some examples of hindrances, but what's usually commonplace is the degradation of one's mental state.

This has led to numerous conflicts that end with the affected individual put out of their misery, but a few remain today as notorious criminals or worse.
