“Where the f*ck have you been? Do you know how much trouble you are in, Vance? Madam Adira is worried. You have been summoned to HQ to give a briefing,” Arran snapped when I walked into the apartment.


“I was on Hart Island,” I explained to him.


“Alone?” he pressed with a raised brow.


“F*ck, you are killing me here, Vance. I tried to cover for you but it seems Madam Adira sent someone else to monitor you. She knew you left on a yacht registered to the Ryuu Group.”


I looked away, unable to hold eye contact with him. “I was working,” I lied.


“You were working on what, exactly? Killian's c*ck?”


“Shut up, Arran!” I yelled and walked to the bedroom, locking the door behind me. I’m not in the mood to be questioned by him. I connected the phone to the charger and took a bath. Switching off my phone after dressing, I sat on the bed to catch up on missed messages.


I had several missed calls from Grandma and Arran. “Sh*t,” I cursed.
