Chapter 12: No Coincidence

Rowan POV

The minute the cable to the elevator snapped, Rowan pulled Ylana into his arms. He had kept her glued to his side ever since. He wanted to shift so that he could sort through his fears using his logical wolf mind.

Everyone was seated on the couches around Odo’s sitting room, except Odo himself. Rowan watched the man stomp around the room while he yelled at someone on the phone. For once, Rowan didn’t have a problem with Odo’s reaction seeing as he was equally furious.

Ylana would have been the only one to die in that elevator due to shifters being able to heal quickly. Only a few things could kill shifters on the spot, and Rowan’s mother getting shot in the head was a prime example – once the brain was destroyed there was no coming back.

Rowan breathed in Ylana’s scent deeply to remind himself that she was still alive and healthy.
