Chapter 38: Crash

Rowan POV

Rowan finished making breakfast on the day of departure from his family’s Poconos home.

The week alone with his wife had been wonderful. They spent a significant amount of time in bed tangled with each other, and their trip had started with the most wonderful news – he was going to be a father. So, he spent most of the trip spoiling Ylana, knowing she had a difficult road ahead. Carrying one baby was enough, and Ylana had two.

Ylana was seated on the couch in the living room, so Rowan carried a plate over to her.

Ylana took it and smiled. “You don’t have to do this, you know. I am capable of walking around.”

Rowan put his hand on her head to stroke her hair. “Use the excuse to be lazy. I’m pretty sure neither of us will be resting much once the babies are born.”

Ylana took a bite of her scrambled eggs. “Hmm. You do have a point.”

“I’m a genius, I know.” A knock on the door took Rowan out of his bliss. “That must be Jack.”
