Chapter 36: Counterattack

*Obnizov’s maids' room—11:26 PM*

*

Daisy was about to leave Obnizov's mansion. The twins behaved considerably well that day. Daisy almost thought of sparing them from the counterattack that would happen that very night. Almost.

Daisy opened the maids’ room window and climbed to get out.

“Hello?” A weak voice, like a mouse’s, spoke from behind Daisy. “Who’s there?”

Daisy looked back to find Mina, the maid who introduced her to the escaping path. Remember Mina? Now you do.

“Oh, hey Mina!” Daisy whispered, to not wake the other maids up. “Sorry to wake you up.”

“What happened? Leaving already?” Mina asked, rubbing her sleepy eyes.

“Yes, Mina,” Daisy said, with a tender mother voice. “But don’t worry, I’ll be right back.”

Daisy was about to leave when she stopped and looked back to see Mina, with her tiny mouth smiling and her big eyes staring at her.

“Mina?” Daisy called.

“Yes?” Mina replied.

“You said you dream of running away to New Mexico, right?” Daisy inquired.
