CHAPTER -02

THE WILL AND GOOD MORNING!!

"Good morning," Ace heard his sister greeting him with a smile when he came down from his room the next morning.

Ace felt a little bit irritated finding his sister cooking in the kitchen. It felt like someone had intruded his personal space forcefully.

He sighed again. Things gonna change now.

Last night, after the funeral of his father,Ace sat on the garden alone for a long time till it was maybe 10pm at night.

Then,he came back to his room and went to sleep without even taking off his clothes.

"Your father didn't die naturally. He was killed," that's what his godfather,Uncle Ben had told Ace when he went to receive the body of his father.

"What do you mean?"Ace asked raising his eyebrow.

"He was shot first, then his car was dropped from the peak," Uncle Ben answered.

"Oh," Ace replied without much interest.

Who would want to kill his father? At least, one thousand persons.

"Excuse me," Uncle Ben was interrupted before he could say anything else.

"Yes," Ace looked at the officer who called him.

"Are you Mr.Holmes?" The officer asked.

Ace nodded.

"Please, come with me. We need you to sign some papers," the officer said.

Ace looked at his godfather.

"Go on. I'll talk to you later,"said Benjamin Robertson.

Ace nodded and left following the officer.

"Please, sign here," the officer said, showing Ace the papers.

Ace just signed them.

"You can now take the body away," the officer said nodding his head.

Ace felt a wired at how easily this man was referring his father as a body just because his father was dead now.

"Death means the same thing to everyone. It means your heart stops, your brain cools down and people starts to refer you as "the body".

There is no such thing as a good death. There is just some that are worse than others",Ace remembered his father telling him this when he saw his first dead body.

He felt a little curious how his father would feel if he knew someone was referring him as a body.

It felt a little unreal to hear this man referring to the great Arthur Holmes only as a body.

Ace finished all the formalities and took his father's body to the place of funeral.

"Do you want some breakfast?" Ace came back to the present hearing his sister's voice.

He nodded and sat beside his niece who was drawing something sitting in the dinning table.

"Uncle, look it is a tiger," little Abby showed Ace her drawing.

"It's good. Good job," Ace said raffling her ginger hair and was awarded with a beaming smile from her niece.

"Would you like some coffee?" His sister asked again.

Ace nodded again and watched his sister going back to the kitchen again.

His sister,Alice Robertson was already 31 years old. She was seven years older than him.

She was a slim lady. With her 5feet 4inch height and her ginger hair, she was a really attractive woman.

Well, she was a gentle creature who would think two times even to kill a fly.

Ace sometimes thought how could his father had a daughter like her.

Her ginger hair and blue eyes were the only things,he and her sister had in common.

Ace wasn't really close to his only sister. He felt a little awkward around her.

"We have decided to come down to live here," Alice said as she put the sandwiches in front of Ace.

"You can also live with us. We don't mind," she added looking nervously at Ace but Ace didn't mind her at all.

He didn't want to live here,in this ghost of a house, with his only sister. He didn't want that. He wished to run away and leave everything behind him.

Ace wasn't surprised when his father's lawyer read out his father's will at his father's funeral.

His father had left his every property along with the mansion of their ancestors in his sister's name, also some shares in the businesses that his father had invested in.

The only thing that Ace got was the medals and firearms of his father.

Ace could feel everyone's surprised look at him and his sister's astonished and nervous look at him but he didn't mind. He sat there without talking.

Ace remembered the day his father talked to him about his will.

It was a sunny morning in Number. Ace only turned 18 and joined the military service.

"Ace,I have decided to leave all of my properties in your sister's name. I haven't done anything but send money for her in her whole life. So,I'm think about leaving her in a secure position when I died. I hope you don't mind,"his father said as his father gave the toast and butter to Ace for breakfast.

"It's your property, father. You can do anything you want," Ace said honestly without much thought.

Ace was busy eating so he couldn't see the proud look on his father's face.

"Ace,I know I'm not a great father. But I'm proud of you and I'm happy that you're carrying on my legacy. Thank you, son," his father said.

Ace didn't say anything, just continued eating.

Maybe because of growing up with his father, Ace also wasn't able to feel much emotion.

"Ace," Ace once again came back from his thoughts hearing his sister's high pitched soft voice.

"It's your house. You can do anything you like,"Ace replied.

"Then, are you going to stay with us?" Alice asked.

Honestly, she felt a little scared to talk to her brother. He was exactly the same as their father, cold and emotionless.

She was so surprised when they heard the will. She knew her father was gonna leave her something but she didn't expect that he would leave everything to her and she felt it was a little injustice to her brother but she couldn't say anything about it or do anything.

"No. I have my penthouse and I think I'll leave for work soon,"Ace said.

"Thank you for the food," Ace

said standing up and walked out of the house.

Alice sighed watching the walking back of her brother.
