CHAPTER -04
"MURDER MYSTERY AND THE MAFIA"
"Ace, please sit down,"Benjamin Robertson said when Ace entered into the room.
Ace had come to this room many times before but now it seemed so unfamiliar.
They had changed mostly everything in the room.
Ace looked at the man sitting opposite to him,behind the huge desk.
Benjamin Robertson was a short man in his late fifties. Most of his hair had already turned grey,some wrinkles could be seen in his tanned skin which indicated his old age.
But his black eyes were alart and seemed glittering like a sly fox.
Benjamin Robertson was more like an old sly fox. He had been working as the vice director of CIA for like ten years and now,after Ace's father,he became the director.
In his light grey suit,he looked shorter than usual behind the large desk.
"Ace,I need to talk to you about something," Benjamin Robertson began.
Ace waited for him to continue.
"At first,let me tell you about the investigation of your father's death," Benjamin Robertson said and took out a file from his drawer.
"This is everything we found so far,"he said.
Ace took the file but didn't open it.
He didn't want to read it in front of Benjamin Robertson.
"We think your father's death is connected with the Mafia,"Benjamin Robertson said.
"The Mafia?" Ace asked and watched the older man nodding.
"Let me tell you something about the Mafia first,"Benjamin Robertson said.
Ace nodded.
"I think I don't need to tell you everything about the Mafia now, right," the older man said.
Ace shook his head. He didn't need to hear it.
He knew most things about the Mafia.
The underworld business was a dangerous part of this world but it didn't mean that people didn't like it.
From time to time,there were gang war that killed hundreds of people.
People in the underworld liked to fight. Fight for money,fight for power, fight for area and fight for women.
Normally,the police or the authority didn't bother to get involved with the Mafia.
They minded their own business and normal people minded their own too.
"About,only 15years ago,the Mafia in the USA became famous in the underworld. Before that it was the Russian or Chinese Mafia who had the lead," The old man told Ace.
Ace listened to him carefully.
"This was Stephen Waters who was the first Mafia King from the USA.
According to our source,he became the most powerful man in the underworld,"the old man continued.
"Your father had met Stephen Waters before.
They had a pact with each other than no one would interfere with others work,"Said the old man.
"Under Stephen Waters rule,the USA Mafia became more and more powerful and the power shifted here in the New work.
Then, about five years ago, Stephen Waters was murdered and it was rumoured that his brother killed him to become the next Mafia King.
But,after that we got no information about the Mafia and we don't know who the Mafia King is now," the old man stopped his story.
"So,what does it have to do with my father's death?"Ace asked.
"I have heard that you're father called you and told you to come back to the headquarters after the end of your mission," Benjamin Robertson said.
Ace was surprised that the old man knew about that. It was supposed to be a secret.
"Why are you asking about that?"Ace asked.
"Did you your father told you anything about your next job?" The old man asked.
"No,he didn't," Ace replied honestly.
Maybe his father didn't thing that he'd be dead before he could meet Ace again.
"Our agents have been trying hard to find information about the Mafia King for the last five years but there is no luck so far.
We don't know who is the main person who is behind the power now,"the old man started again.
"What we know for sure is that the USA Mafia is still in the top position and whoever is in power is way more powerful and dangerous than Stephen Waters,"the old man added.
"Again,what does this have to do with the death of my father?"Ace asked.
"Recently,one of our agent who was in undercover in the Mafia found something about the identity of the Mafia King.
He was about to meet your father," the old man said.
"Then,your was found dead and we also found the body of the agent in a river," the old man ended.
Ace had thought about that too.
"So,you think my father was killed by the Mafia?" Ace asked.
Benjamin Robertson nodded.
"We have all evidence to support that," he said.
"We think the agent found something about the Mafia King and was about to tell your father that. But the Mafia somehow got the news and killed both your father and our agent," he added.
Ace took a deep breath.
Like a dutiful son, Ace wanted to revenge his father too.
But Ace didn't know if he wanted to get involved with the Mafia.
"You sure,it's not your people who leaked the new?" Ace asked.
First thing his father taught him was not to believe anyone until you found evidence for that.
"Honestly,we can't deny that. The Mafia has connection everywhere," said the old man.
"What do you want me to do now?"Ace asked.
"Ace,before your father's death,he arranged a task for you. I wish you to take it and finish it," The old man said.
Ace looked at the old man's eyes but couldn't find anything but determination.
"You don't have to answer me right now.
Think about it and come back,"Benjamin Robertson said.
Ace nodded.
"Ace,your father was proud of you and he was happy that you are carrying his legacy. I hope you'll continue to do so," Benjamin Robertson said looking at Ace.
Ace didn't say anything in reply. He didn't want to talk about his father.
"I'll take my leave now," Ace said and stood up.
"I'll be waiting to hear from you," said the old man nodding.
Ace gave him a last nod and left the room.
