Luciana tried her best to finish the food given to her, but she couldn't. She had even eaten about half of the portion given to her, which was very unlike her, just so she could use the laboratory. But she wondered if the prince would let her go with just that portion.
After forcing herself a little more, she gave up and dropped the food. She decided to go to the inn to get her notes where she had things written.
"Where have you been?" Rebecca asked the human the moment she stepped her foot inside. She had her hands crossed across her chest and there was a smirk on her lips. She believed that the princess must have thought her a lesson. The human even looked rougher than she usually looked.
Luciana rolled her eyes. The dog would never give up.
"I have been with the prince." Luciana replied with a smile that she was sure would sting her.
Rebecca's smiled died down immediately, and it was replaced by a glower.
"Liar. The princess would not allow it." Rebecca said, remembering the slap she received from the princess. The princess definitely didn't seem like someone that would sit and let another woman hang out with the prince she was going to marry.
Luciana shrugged. "I am even going back to him. You can escort me if it pleases you."
Just then, they heard the voices of two maids who have came to give food to the girls.
"... they said that the prince was the one who locked her up." One maid said.
"But he shouldn't have done that. She's his future wife." The other added.
"I heard she tried to strangle him for not giving her what she demanded for." The first maid said.
"You two." Rebecca yelled. "Do you not have any work to do this evening that you have the luxury to stand here and gossip the prince?"
The maids looked at them shocked, not knowing they were there as they were so carried away in their gossip.
"We are sorry." They apologized in unison as they ran out with their head bowed, hoping that their faces were not seen.
"Looks like the princess didn't have much of a choice anyway." Luciana told Rebecca tauntingly before she walked inside.
After Luciana had gotten her note, she went outside the castle. She had spotted some of the herbs she wrote down close to the stream when the princess asked her to wash clothes.
She took as much as she felt she needed, but she wasn't satisfied as she couldn't find the wolves babe. She imagined finding it and putting it in Rebecca's food. It brought a smile to her lips.
She took the ones she could get before going back to the Prince's quarters.
Prince Raziel was in his study, trying to find a solution to the new problem his father had given him to solve. While Lorenzo was standing behind him, asking him questions nonstop.
"My prince are you going to wage an all out war on the kingdoms?" Lorenzo asked.
"No. That would be foolish. There should at least be a dialogue first. I believe we would be fighting against many kingdoms this time." Raziel replied, looking at the paperwork on his table.
"What does the king say?" Lorenzo asked.
"What he says does not matter." He then stood up. "Sort these out for me."
"Yes your highness."
Raziel went to the room Luciana was to check if she was ready to go to the library. It was already evening, but he believed the human would still be ready to go. He wondered how much more pressure her body could withstand.
He opened the door to meet Luciana sitting and writing something. She turned to him.
"Your highness. I couldn't finish the food. I tried my best." She reported.
Raziel shook his head. She was desperate to use the laboratory.
"A knight will take you there as I have other things to attend to. Come with me." He told her, and she eagerly got up to go with him.
"Thank you your highness."
When Luciana got to the laboratory, she was able to extract the content of the herbs, and mixed it with the ash. From what she had studied, mixing them together would increase the potency by a very high degree. After she had done that, she tested it on a vampire blood, and it instant began to turn black, before drying up. She smiled at the result. It was very satisfying. Now all she had to do was to test it on a vampire.
She then mixed it with a werewolf's blood, but it took a long while before she got a reaction, and it only turned reddish-brown. She concluded that it would not kill a werewolf, but it would not be good for them when used in large quantity. She really needed to get the wolves bane.
She then tested it on a human, siren and witch blood, but there was no effect at all. She then labelled it 'Vampire poison'.
When she was done, she came out of the laboratory to find the carriage that brought her there. She had only stepped a foot in the carriage, before coming back down and going back to the laboratory. She took a little of the mixture she had made, before going back to the castle.
*****
The door to Raziel's study opened with a bang, and a furious king entered. Raziel turned to him, surprised to see him in there.
"Good day father. Came to bond with your son?" He said in a sarcastic tone.
"Why haven't you released the princess?"
"I went to visit her today, and she was unrepentant. All I asked of her was an apology." He shrugged lightly, as though that was above his control.
"Where are the keys?" The king asked in an angry voice.
"I gave it to one of the knights, and I can't remember which one."
"Raziel! I am your father and your king. You will not disrespect me." The king warned.
"I dare not my king." Raziel said in mock surrender.
"Son! She is a princess. Her father would not be pleased with how you treated her. It had been two days. I heard that she refused to eat anything. Son this could lead to a war. We don't need more enemies." The king told him through gritted teeth.
"But she refused to apologize."
"Raziel the keys now!" He ordered.
Raziel gave the king a long look, before getting up to get the key to Evelyn's cell. He gave it to him.
"You will be punished for this. Because you are my son does not mean that you are above punishments."
Raziel smiled. "I know your majesty."
After the king left, Lorenzo stepped in with careful steps.
"Your highness. What do you think your father will do to you?" Lorenzo asked in a concerned voice, meanwhile Raziel was very relaxed.
"What can he do to me? He will probably shift my wedding to Evelyn forward." He told Lorenzo in a casual manner.
"Are you going to marry her your highness?"
Raziel stared at him. "I thought I have answered that question already."
"But what are you going to do? Will you leave the castle?"
"No."
A light knock was heard from the door of the study. Raziel glanced at Lorenzo, and he went to the door. A short while later, he returned, his brows creased.
"It was a maid. She was sent by the king."
Raziel already knew what it was about.
"You shall be marrying the princess in two days your highness."
Raziel nodded. "Anything else?"
"Your highness." Lorenzo called worriedly, before handing him a folded piece of paper. "She didn't know who the sender was, but she was told that you do."
Raziel frowned before taking the paper from him. He straightened it, but what he saw made his brows to furrow even more. Lorenzo turned alert. He didn't see what was written, but he had a feeling that it was not something pleasant. The maid that gave it to him even seemed scared. The person that had given it to her must have scared her.
Raziel said what was written in red, or maybe it was blood was;
"BLOOD WILL RAIN."
