Chapter 16: Uninvited Guest ( 2 )

"No, Mom. Everything is fine"

I said while I haphazardly walked around the apartment exploring every corner in excitement, whilst talking to my mother on the phone.

As I walked around barely listening, not realizing what I was agreeing about with her. Not knowing I accidentally signed off on my own misery. With two simple bland letters, "ok"

"Ok great we sent him a while ago, I just wanted to hear an ok before he arrived"

That comment caught my eye, making my body snap back making it jerk trying to understand what I had agreed to.

"What do you mean we sent him"

My eyes stared into the phone in anticipation of what words were about to exit her mouth. It felt as if time slowed, my heart rate rising and my throat becoming sore all in one.

"Your little brother"

Everything in the room went silent along with me. I couldn't believe it, nor did I want to. Before I could even ask questions on why she would send him without asking beforehand I heard the doorbell ring.

I couldn't take the responsibility that was about to fall upon me, nor did I know how to explain this to him. But I silently trudged to the door peeking out the door's peephole knowing exactly who it was.

There I saw him standing with a duffel bag in hand, staring right back at me, with an annoyed face as if he didn't even want to be there.

"I know you're there you idiot, I can clearly see your shadow under the door"

I sighed behind the door even though he could've heard blowing the little cover I had. Making me just give in and let him in. As my brains scrambled like wired headphones, all I felt like doing was falling to the floor and asking whoever wished this upon me for forgiveness.

"Do you have anything to drink"

He said that as I stood there emotionless in my thoughts after he put his duffel bag on the couch and instantly walked over to the fridge.

"Yeah, there are snacks in that cabinet" I pointed him to everything.

"How long are you staying for?"

"Mom said go spend a week with your sister, even after I tried getting out of it she still sent me"

I couldn't do anything at this moment besides throw myself on the couch and give out a sigh of frustration. The only thing I could do right now is wait till he comes home to this.

"When is your husband coming home"

"I hope before I come up with a good excuse"
