Chapter 26 : Dungeon

Night came.

We were now lounging into the room provided to us by the village chief. I was lying on the floor, while Eina was in the bed. The chief's house were quite small, so this room is the only one he can offer. There is no reson not to accept.

We were supposed to sleep right now. I was just thinking what should we do tomorrow, as the information given was too little for us. The chief only said about goblins seen. We asked for more, and he said it's the only info he has. He also said about a cave, which was nearby here, that might be the goblins' hideout.

That only means one thing: this wasn't even fully investigated before submitting the quest. It's strange. And even if it was, the guild should have also investigated it. But nothing was reported. It feels like someone just set this up.

But I can't sleep just yet. And neither did Eina, who was the first to stand. After our senses told us what's going on, cries and noises were heard, even from our room. We exchanged looks and then swiftly grabbed our weapons, wore our armors, and immediately head out.

What greeted us was a sight of burning houses. A few of them, at least. And of course, monsters.. But it was never just goblins. Someone was running, and before reachinga house, was cut by something invisible. It was a sight too painful to be seen.

However we can't just stay stunned like this. I first moved and unsheathed my sword which ghen cut something. Eventually, it appeared when tpit's head was about to fall of. The first monster I ever fought, Assasin Mantis.

But why are they here? Only goblins were spotted, right?

"...This is strange. I could feel all sorts of monsters attacking... It's not just goblins, Master."

"I know. We need to move now. lets go at the center of the village. There js a large space there where they may go."

"Yes. I'll also escort some in the way."

"Mhm."

After talking, we ran and tried fo find any who were outside. We killed monsters, namely goblins, mantises, wolfs and others, but they are basically just the weak ones out.

After all was in the center, we talked with everybody.

"...I know everyone of you guys is scared. That's normal. However, we're here. We can protect you."

"But there's only the two of you! And you say you can protect everyone here?!"

"That's right! Maybe you can't even defeat them all."

"That is a possibility, however, I can still assure you of your protection. Look."

After I said it, I looked at Eina.

"Eina, please cast a barrier."

"Yes."

She then closed her eyes, and then clasped her hands as if praying. She then called.

"O spirits, please lend me your power to protect everyone."

While she were casting her own spirit barrier, I also did mine. I raised my hands and activated a barrier. This barrier will block any projectiles heading, and even repel monsters outside so that it can't go in. But just using this, I already used up 25% of my magic power. But this is more than enough.

After finishing mine, Eina's barrier were also finished, and another barrier with any sorts of colors appeared and covered the place. Seeing the barrier made the villagers calm a little. After that, we told them we're gonna clean the monsters outside. This time, no one disagreed.

When we headed out, a lot of monsters were waiting outside, probably drawn by the magic of the barrier. They like places with magic power after all. A wolf attacked, but I shot it with my revolver. Eina moved, and she activated her Spirit Magic and created 'Wind Cutter'. Just by doing that, she already dealt many of them, but they won't back out easily.

After I killed a Phantom Husk, tye weakest type of undead, I begun thinking. There were monsters that isn't supposed to be here. Like the Phantom Husk, which can only be found... in a dungeon. There were others, such as Bloody Bats and other more.

"...Looks like there is a dungeon nearby, Eina," I told her with a serious face. Such a place exists, however, they didn't release monsters but only had them inside. There was only one way to confirm.

Exterminating every monster we meet, we headed on the way to the supposed cave where they thought monster hid, Ixha Cave. But ine thing I noticed was while we're exterminating them, I saw that we are quite deviating from the path to the cave, and the monster waves were going on the left side of the road. Of course, we didn't followed the road, but the monsters' way.

After 15 minutes of monster hunting, we arrived. Nearby was a road heading to one of the caves. It was the Ixha Cave, since the road was going inside. But there was a problem.

It's not where the monsters are... but in the far left of it... was another cave. This cave... isn't just a normal one.

Doors of stone were on it's sides, designed with indescribable things and circles, presumably a magic circle. Above the door was a face of a monster, which I haven't seen yet.

In short, a dungeon had spawned.

""...""

We were speechless, looking at the opened door where monsters were going out.

Such a place nearby... there wasn't any report of this. How come the villagers never saw this part? No... the place where they saw the goblin was already far from here.

At any rate, we should close this door for now.

"Eina, we need to close that door."

"But that's heavy, isn't it?"

"Of course, we can't do it with brute force. Look, were just 13 year-old. So, ws do it with magic. Eina, please cast a powerful wind magic to force the door to close."

"Alright."

And so, we casted winds around the area, and it made the trees sway too much because of the force of the wind. I can only see Wind spirits, which were green colored, around Eina. I also casted mine, which I named 'Violent Storm'.

Bit by bit, the door creaked, moved, until finally, it closed. But the time it does, we're kinda exhausted. It was hard. However, we still can't afford to rest as there are still monsters outside.

And so, we continued the hunt around the village until it became morning, and succeeded in protecting it.
