Chapter Zero - Pointless Existence

My name is Madaren Osoki. I'm 19 years old and I'm a what people call a introvert. People generally see me as a emotionless person with no purpose, But there's more to me than meets the eye.

When I was 10 years old I was diagnosed with a strange illness caused by a monster from a dungeon break and I was hospitalized. My father who was a D Ranked Hunter couldn't pay the hospital bills and he didn't have health insurance and I could've died without the treatment, so my father turned to loan sharks.

I quickly got better and soon I was free of cancer. When I came home with my mom to celebrate. My father was laying in a pool of blood, than one of the loan sharks who killed my father grabbed my mother aggressively and told her that she has to pay the debt and more unless she wants me to end up like my father.

I distinctly remember a scar on his chin. Since that day I haven't smiled or laughed or felt any positive emotion then. My mother gets threatened by the loan sharks occasionally and I'm powerless against them since I haven't awakened.

She still paying off the debt. Since than I've took many jobs to help pay it off. I've considered ending it all but I won't leave my mother all alone. Maybe when we finally pay it off.
