Chapter 8:'You are the reason...'

I've had enough of you. 'I miss you' means 'I miss you.' Why are you pulling out other meanings?" Mian shut her mouth all of a sudden.

She realized what she had done. This guy was really scary, but she chose to overpower him and raise her voice against him.

'It's okay now that you've already released the bullet; don't regret it. What more can he do? At most, he will confine you... he loves you so much, so he can't kill you,' Mian spoke to herself, controlling her urge to run away.

'But why is he staring at me like that?' Mian saw the man underneath her staring at her without any pause or a word. She then bent down to look at herself... she was speechless.

Her black silk lingerie was stuck to her body, and the thread of her left shoulder had almost slipped, making her look as if she was seducing him on purpose.

Before making things any worse, she tried to run away. But the moment she raised herself a bit, Lu Rang's right hand pulled her back towards the bed as he locked her between his arms. When Mian was about to say something,

"I am barely controlling myself... unless you don't want to leave the bed tomorrow, I advise you to sleep without another word," Lu Rang's hoarse voice was heard, causing Mian's heart to feel at peace.

"Oh," she smiled as she rested in his arms like she always did. Mian fell asleep in no time. Lu Rang opened his eyes to stare at the beautiful seductress who was peacefully sleeping in his arms. A warm smile played on his lips as he kissed her forehead.

"No matter what schemes you are planning... I will play along. To me, you are the goal... I can't afford to lose," he spoke as he drifted into sleep.

The sun's rays fell into the room as Mian slowly opened her eyes.

"Rang... water," she said as she rubbed her eyes. The man, who had been staring at her for an hour, saw she was awake and granted her request. He turned towards the desk, took the glass of water, and handed it to her.

She subconsciously sat up on the bed, took the glass, and drank the whole glass of water.

"I never knew you also had the habit of drinking water in the morning," Lu Rang said as he massaged his right arm.

'You are the reason...' she thought.

She still remembered how he used to make sure she drank that glass of water. The first time she refused, he resorted to the mouth-to-mouth method, leaving her speechless. Memories flooded in, making her blush early in the morning.

"Why are your cheeks red? Are you having a fever?" Lu Rang asked as Mian quickly avoided him and ran towards the washroom. Lu Rang shook his head and took the two glasses out of the room.

He walked downstairs to see Su Cheng and Xi Lie sitting and waiting.

"Good morning, Uncle and Aunt," Lu Rang greeted them both as he passed the empty glasses to Aunt Lu.

"We heard everything from Assistant Fu... Who do you think did it?" Su Cheng asked as he passed the tea to Lu Rang.

"I won't spare that person, no matter who he or she is," Lu Rang replied as he sipped the tea.

"Rang, is she alright?" Xi Lei asked, worried for her daughter.

"Yes, Aunt, she will come down soon," Lu Rang answered shortly.

He Yuan, who was burning with rage knowing Lu Rang had been in Mian's room all night, felt like killing Mian a hundred times.

"But Brother Lu Rang, why did you come to our house at that time? Isn't it inappropriate?" He Yuan asked as she closed her mouth.

"Are you nuts? I missed my fiancé and asked him to come because I miss him. What's inappropriate here?" Mian said as she walked downstairs.

Su Cheng and Xi Lei shook their heads at their daughter's temper and niece's stupidity.

Lu Rang's lips raised as he placed his tea on the table. Mian's action did surprise him, but he chose not to show it on his face. The way she portrayed herself as possessive made him want to believe she really meant it.

"Alright, Mimi... stop making Ah Rang come to you. He's busy enough. Try to be considerate," Xi Lie said, trying not to make Mian seem desperate.

"She didn't ask me to... I chose to come. Aunt, Mian isn't at fault," Lu Rang said, his words gaining nodding praise from Su Cheng.

'A man should never throw his wife under the bus... good job,' was the thought running through Su Cheng's mind.

"Hmm... it's not enough that her father spoils her. There is another addition now. Aunt Lu, I'm afraid Mimi is going to be spoiled rotten," Xi Lie said with a caring smile.

"But madam, you spoil her more than anyone," Aunt Lu replied as Mian walked towards her mother and sat beside her.

"Let me take a look at you... are you hurt anywhere? Ahh... Mimi, is your hand hurting very much?" Xi Lie's face went pale as she saw her daughter's hand wrapped in a bandage.

"Mimi... I've already made a decision. K will be your bodyguard again," Su Cheng spoke, exchanging glances with Lu Rang.

"Mike will do... isn't he already following me silently all these days? He even enrolled in my course... let that poor fellow continue as my bodyguard," Mian said as she adjusted her right hand on her mom's lap and hugged her mom's shoulder.

"You knew?" Su Cheng was quite startled by this revelation.

"Of course, she didn't know until the moment a rogue tried to touch her... then she saw Mike, her supposed classmate, rush to the front and handle the situation. Soon after, he escorted her to the Lu Mansion, making it clear that he belonged to Lu Rang's A-level bodyguard team."

"Your daughter is pretty smart, Mr. Su," Mian shamelessly praised herself.

"Alright then... let Mike continue to protect you then," Lu Rang spoke.

At that moment, He Yuan's hands went sweaty... she didn't know there was a spy hidden in their class until now... that too, he belonged to Lu Rang.

"Boss... the car is ready." It was K who came in. Assistant Fu is busy with the culprit as he patiently waited for his boss at the base, so K came to escort him.

"Then I shall take my leave." Lu Rang politely bowed to Mian's parents and walked towards the door. Seeing him walk through the door, Mian suddenly stood up.

"Be back in a minute," she said to her parents as she rushed to the door.

When Lu Rang was about to enter the car, he felt something pulling his shirt from his back, and his actions paused as he slightly saw the person who was hurriedly holding onto his trench coat.
