Chapter 39-Anemoi's Past

"WWWAAAHHH!!!"

Anemoi and I cry as we fall down the deep dark abyss through the hole in the ground created by the decaying effect of Gambino's Rust Charge, until I land face first against the ground with a grunt.

"Oww…" I groan as I slowly begin pushing myself up.

But then, Anemoi lands on top of me with a yelp, causing my face to slam back to the ground.

"Oh, sorry Noah," Anemoi apologies as she stands off of me, and I manage to finally sit up at last.

"Where are we…?" I ask as I take a look around, which is pointless, considering that everything around us is pitch black.

"We must be DEEP underground by now underneath the stronghold, considering the stronghold was pretty far underground as well," Anemoi answers as she takes a seat before me.

"Should we start looking around?"

"Probably, should," Anemoi answers as she squints her eyes, "Though it's too dark to really see anything anyway."

"I wonder why Gambino dropped us down here…?"

"We're THE-Chargers of two of the original elements. We can E-Charger without Charge Stances, so Gambino can't really do anything to restrain us. The best he can do is drop us down here."

"So you can E-Charge without a Charge Stance too?"

"Of course. I can do everything you can, remember?"

"Right…"

"Though I can't use any spells or fight without my Charge Stance. Unless I just use my katana."

"So…about that, you don't have any memories either, right, Anemoi?"

"Err…no…"

"And you just woke up in Harbor Jungle in the Land of Wind one day?"

"Yeah. That's where Lily found me."

"So how did you learn to E-Charge? And use a sword?"

"I'm assuming like you, soon after waking up, I realized I had a small control over wind," Anemoi explains, "You see, the Land of Wind is big on katanas and sword-play. So…by living in a Land of Wind village for a few years, I eventually picked up a few things. And after wielding a katana for a while, I realized that when I enter a fighting stance with my sword, I could use my Wind Powers better, and through my time as a bounty hunter, I came to learn about E-Charge. I picked a few things up along the way."

"That's amazing…" I sigh, "You managed to just PICK up the ability to E-Charge, while I couldn't E-Charge until I met Master Flint…"

"You can do it too, Noah."

"So you don't remember ANYTHING?"

"Nope. Nothing at all, from before I woke up in the Jungle."

"How old…do you think we are…?"

"Both of us look like we're in our early twenties. So we're probably…twenty-two, if I had to guess."

"How long do you think you were asleep?"

"Couldn't have been more than a few days. Much more, and we would have been crippled."

"But that's the strange part. Even if I lose all of my other memories for a second time…I will NEVER forget how I felt that day. Did you feel hungry when you woke up? Tired? Stiff?"

Anemoi's eyes widen. "N-no, I didn't. And I assume you didn't either?"

I shake my head. "I felt in perfect shape when I woke up. Like I took a brief nap. Yet, when I woke up…the world felt strange to me. I didn't know ANYTHING about it, from the villages, to the cabins, to the wasteland…everything looked so…unfamiliar. Like I woke up on a different planet."

"Yeah, I get that. It felt like we...TIME TRAVELED, or something."

"I haven't told anyone this, but sometimes, when I close my eyes, I see…a village," I continue as I close my eyes, "But like…a really huge village, with tall concrete buildings with a lot of windows, and…strange buggy looking things with wheels that roll down a path. The village is bustling with people, and on the outskirts of the village, the world is green with nature, and I see HUNDREDS of animals that I've never seen before. But when I open my eyes…it's gone. I don't know if it's my memories, or…"

My voice trails off.

"Strange…" Anemoi replies, "I've never seen anything like that…"

Anemoi's eyes widen.

"Do you think…that what you saw is how the world looked BEFORE the flood?!"

My eyes widen as well. "D-do you think so?!"

"That would make sense. Obviously, the world MUST have looked way different before the flood, but then after the flood, maybe humanity was sent back to the stone ages?"

"But why would I know what the world looked like before the flood?"

"I…I don't know…"

I raise an eyebrow at Anemoi.

"Anemoi…how did you get your name?"

Anemoi perks up. "Same as you, I'm assuming. I just…KNEW IT, somehow."

I shake my head. "I don't remember my name. I got the name Noah because when I woke up, I found myself in what appeared to be a shipwreck. On the wooden plank before me, was engraved the word 'Noah.' So I assumed that was my name."

"It's so odd how different our memories are…I remember my name, you don't. You remember what the world looked like before the flood, I don't."

"And also, you said you felt a…connection between the two of us. What's that about?"

Anemoi shrugs. "I don't know, when I saw you, I had like a…sixth sense telling me that you're the E-Charger of Water. Well…I guess we're not REALLY siblings, but when I saw you…I kinda got the feeling that you we're searching for a lost family member…"

"So you'll be a great help in locating the Earth E-Charger," I smirk.

"Remember the deal," Anemoi smirks back.

"Oh yeah, are you FINALLY going to tell me why you need money?"

Anemoi sighs. "Well…we shared so much, that I may as well."

"You see…my friend, the one who found me in the Jungle, Lily…is incredibly sick," Anemoi explains, "She needed a doctor, but neither of us had enough money to afford one. So…I took up bounty hunting. By hunting bandits, I was able to make good money, but not enough. At one point, I accidentally took out a bandit group under Gambino, and that's when Gambino discovered that I'm the Wind Charger. Soon after, Gambino found out about why I was working as a bounty hunter, and he offered to pay for Lily's medicine. I agreed, but afterwards, Lily needed MORE medicine, and Gambino paid for it again. So now…I'm in debt to Gambino, debt that I can't pay back by just bounty hunting. Gambino DID offer me a deal to forgive my debt, but I couldn't bring myself to do it…"

"What's the deal?" I ask.

Anemoi shudders. "To become…his mistress…"

"That's good…" I chuckle with a sigh of relief.

"What do you mean, that's good?!"

My eyes widen. "N-no, that's not what I mean!"

Anemoi raises an eyebrow at me.

"Wh-when you were telling us about how you needed money and were in hot water with the mafia, I became worried that you may be a bad person!" I laugh. I then stop laughing as I peer back down at Anemoi, "I…I'm just glad you're npt."

Anemoi's eyes widen. She then turns away from me with an embarrassed smile.

"And I'm glad you're such a good guy, too."

"Well then-" I grunt as I stand back up, "Shall we get out of here?"

"Of course!" Anemoi answers as she stands up as well, "Let's go!"
