Chapter 11: Five Foot and Full of Rage

Alastair does end up falling asleep. He knows this because his consciousness is shoved harshly back into reality by the sound of clattering dishes. Both him and Oliver shoot bold upright, but not because the noise had also disturbed Oliver. Oliver had managed to crawl on top of him during the night so, when Alastair was startled into rising, so too, was Oliver brought along.

Oliver snorts and clings to him tighter, then blinks up at Alastair. For a moment, the tension seems to ease away from both their bodies as they smile sleepily at each other. This is ridiculous, they barely know each other. Alastair doesn’t care.

They jolt again when another dish clatters and a cabinet door is slammed. Oliver sighs.

“Lea must have seen your clothes,” he says with closed eyes and a miserable tone.
