Chapter 43: Unfamiliar Familiarity

They all get ready together at Alastair’s apartment. Even Lea shows up to fret over her brother and update them on the web of influencers and activists she has on the ready to spread the evidence that they had yet to hunt down.

“Do any of them have any further insight into illegal transactions my parents may have had? Surely someone has some connection to a bad deal,” Alastair remarks, irritably fixing his tie until Virdia smacks his hands and does it for him.

“Unfortunately, no—” Lea grumbles, before getting distracted by Oliver. “Is that my eyeliner? I’ve been looking for that for days!” she complains, before sighing and returning to original thought, Oliver sniggering beside her.

“There’s been an uptick in unreported disappearances, but unfortunately, that’s not that uncommon as it gets hotter and some people don’t have anywhere to find relief,” she informs solemnly.
