Chapter 48: The Choices we Make

She didn’t want to do this.

But she didn’t have a choice.

Lilith’s dirk clashed against Morgan’s own weapon. It was a whip, not unlike Mary’s, only his was made out of something else, not leather, not steel. But human bone and sinew.

It was one of the most disgusting things Lilith had ever seen, and her blade was unable to stand against it for more than a moment at a time.

Lilith ducked to the side, just narrowing avoiding the thunder and crack of the whip’s next throw as Morgan twirled the whip over in the air.

Lilith planted her feet onto her coffin and jumped into the air. Just in time, because the spine whip cleaved through the spot she had just been standing. Her coffin split in two, wood and splinters flying in every direction.

Lilith landed on the celling, and quickly pushed herself off it, landing back down on the floor in a crouch as Morgan pulled his whip back. For a moment, Lilith considered saying something, anything, to get through to her uncle.
