Chapter 50: Must come to an End.

Clean up, as it always was, proved to be harder than the trial itself. Other myths had arrived to see what the trouble was about but had been shoo’d away from the road by Roland. Morgan had been tied up, and his head placed in a sack. Without his vision, his body was easy enough to manage.

Pluck, however, choose that moment to appear, just as Lilith finished tying up the body. “Well, well, well, I take it this is our man?”

Lilith frowned, she didn’t want to say yes, she never did around him. Such was the risk of dealing with Fae.

“….Yeah,” she muttered, and Pluck looked down at the headless body.

“…Ah, wow. Morgan? Wow, gotta say, I was not expecting this.”

“He’s being dealt with,” Lilith answered.

“Even so, you remember what you promised?” Pluck said, and Lilith wracked her brain for the answer. What had she promised him?

…Nothing, beyond a name, and the promise of justice delivered.

“…I found the one behind the murders,” Lilith said. “But I am not handing him over to you.”
