His lips hovered mere inches from hers, the unspoken desires and unresolved emotions crackling in the air like a charged current.

“Can I?” he asked simply, not giving anything away.

Kara was so wrapped up in the moment that she wasn’t sure she could form real words. To save her any further embarrassment, she nodded wordlessly, granting him permission.

And was she glad she did.

"Why do you always have to behave like such an arse?!" Kara yelled as her emotions began getting the best of her.


"Now..." Eerik interjected, taking a determined step forward. But she was not to be silenced.  


"Never have I encountered someone so impatient, so consumed by their pride and so utterly insufferable. You make it completely impossible for me to genuinely like you for more than a fleeting moment. The instant you open your mouth, I am reminded of every reason why you are entirely wrong for me."


"Kara..." Eerik's voice was a mere whisper, barely audible against the rising tide of her emotions.
