Chapter 42: Eerik

In all her years, Kara had never seen anything as beautiful as the Heber tree. She stood in awe before the majestic tree, its radiant glow bathing the surroundings in a captivating light. Yet, as she stared at the tree, something kept nagging at her. What was she doing in front of the tree, and how did she get here?

“You were supposed to find me,” Eerik’s voice penetrated her thoughts as he emerged from behind her, placing a gentle hand on her lower back. His words, accompanied by a touch that sent shivers through her, left her breathless.

She turned around to face him, confusion mingled with a strange familiarity as she met his gaze. This moment felt like a recurring dream, a place she had visited before. Confronting his easy smile with a furrowed eyebrow, she asked, “What am I doing here?”

He ran a delicate hand across her cheek, staring deeply into her eyes. “I called you here, remember? You were thinking about me, and here I am. Did you miss me?”
