Chapter - 261
As Rick drove, the hum of the engine filled the silence, but his mind was anything but quiet. The calm and composed look of his father, the slight hint of mockery in his voice, the cold confidence, he felt something was wrong. His thoughts churned, dissecting every possible move his father and Jed could have planned.
He and that other guy Jed, who tried to run over him with the truck, must've come up with something, Rick mused, gripping the steering wheel tighter. But what? A direct hit? If Jed was going to ram me with a truck again, why would my father be in the same car? It doesn't add up. He wouldn't be sitting here if he knew the car would be attacked. He's not that foolish.
Rick's mind darted to other possibilities. Maybe they plan to lure me somewhere isolated. Somewhere no one would see. An ambush? He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel with frustration, trying to piece together the vague clues.
