Callum said, "I never said otherwise. If you hear me sing, you'll probably go deaf with delight."
He raised an arm "Don't ask me to give you a preview. I'm not in the mood."
Lucia was speechless. She thought, who wants to hear him sing? He sounded so arrogant and boastful.
He continued, "Back in the day, when I was still in the university, I was voted the best looking male with the voice of a god. I received many love confessions. I started wearing face caps, but that wasn't enough to hide my handsome face."
Lucia knitted her brows in disbelief. She thought, what the hell? He sounds so ridiculous and narcissistic.
She never attended the same school with him, so she had no way of knowing if what he said was true. She doubted it was.
She said nonchalantly, "Uh-huh."
Callum said, "I didn't know you listened to music."
Lucia's left eye twitched. She thought, what does he mean by that? Does he think I live under a rock or something? "Of course I listen to music. Who doesn't?"
Callum said, "I just thought you were a nerd, but not in a good way. You know, those types that cover their face and walk around with a big backpack."
Lucia felt offended by his words. She thought, how rude and ignorant of him. He doesn't know anything about me. "That's very rude of you. You shouldn't stereotype people based on their appearance. And what's wrong with being a nerd anyway? Nerds are smart, creative and cool."
Callum shook his head in disapproval "That's what nerds usually say. But you turned out great."
Lucia was truly speechless. She felt like throwing him out of the car. She thought, this arrogant fool.
She pressed her foot on the accelerator and the car shot forward. She felt like she would go crazy if he stayed in the car any longer. She wanted to get rid of him as soon as possible.
Finally, the car made it to the busy road. They could see cars moving and the beautiful view of the city. Lucia felt relieved to be back in civilization. She said impatiently, "You didn't tell me where you were going. Hurry up and put it in the GPS."
Callum smiled, "You can take me to your house. I really don't mind."
Lucia took a deep breath to calm down. She thought, how cheeky of him. Do men act so childish nowadays? "Put it in now or the only place you'll be spending the night will be the police station, which is right up front."
She pointed to a building with a sign that said "Police".
Callum looked at her, "You wouldn't dare."
He said it with a challenge and a smirk. He thought, how cute and feisty of her. He likes her more than he wants to admit.
Lucia sneered, "Want to try your luck?"
He saw that she was serious and not joking.
Callum conceded, "Fine, fine. I'll put it in."
He typed in his address on the GPS "There you go. It's not far from here." You can come over anytime you want."
Lucia gritted her teeth, "I have no interest in your house." She wanted to drop him off and never see him again.
Callum felt an emotion he couldn't explain, as he looked towards Lucia. He knew this was the last time they would see each other. He had to make it count. He took a deep breath "This is it, Lucia. We will have to part ways in a couple of minutes. Do you have any last requests?"
Lucia pursed her lips and shook her head. She had nothing to ask from him. She just wanted to forget him and everything that happened this evening and move on with her life. "I have no request. But I suppose you have one, right? You always do."
Callum nodded "Yes, I do have one. And you have to fulfill it, no matter what. If you don't, I will have no choice but to force you."
Lucia couldn't believe the audacity. What kind of request was he going to make? She hoped it wasn't anything too crazy or inappropriate. "Fine, I'll do it." She only agreed because he did the same for her as well.
