Lucia raised her hands in surrender, a smirk playing on her lips. "Don't mind me. Let's get going," she said, crossing her arms as she stepped aside, allowing Rose to lead the way.
As they exited the store, Rose's arms felt like they were on the verge of snapping under the weight of the bags. She glanced over at Lucia, who was watching her with an amused smile. "I thought you were gonna…" Rose started to say, but Lucia cut her off.
"Help you?" Lucia interjected with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, yeah," Rose admitted, her cheeks flushing with a shameless grin.
Shaking her head, Lucia stepped forward to relieve Rose of some of the bags. "You're hopeless," she teased.
They made their way to the parked car, the sky above them darkening ominously. A strong gust of wind whipped past. The clouds rumbled, threatening to unleash a downpour at any moment.
