Clay Shenanigans

Amelia

After school, Amelia found the handsome gentleman walking into the hotel. She knew deep down that there was no coincidence in here. He tries too much to gain her attention.

The gentleman's name Is Clay.

Amelia has a flawed memory. Not being able to forget makes her mind remember how almost everybody in her life has treated her and all their interactions.

With Clay, it started in middle school with a girl.

Amelia, Clay, and that girl had a weird threesome friendship.

At first, it was because they were all from very rich families and second was because that girl and Clay lived very close.

Amelia, back then, was more friendly and talkative. She made friends with the girl and then later recruited Clay because he came from close to her.

While going home in the evening, a car would take the three little friends from school to Amelia's house, then to Clay's house and the last one to get home was that girl.

Back then, everyone called the girl by her nickname, B.. Short form for both.

Her classmates chose that name for her because she dressed like a boy but had a girl's hair and face.

Even back then. Both cared little about what the little peasants thought of her and asked her friends to join in if they wanted.

That is how B came to be her name. They shortened it to make the name sound cooler and force other kids to abandon the full name. And her grandmother, who she was staying with, is called Beatrice.

It worked, and by the time they were in high school, the three friends had grown fond of the name. That's where all hell broke loose.

Like any other relationship, it started with a boy, now older Clay.

When they reached puberty, the three friends started catching feelings for each other. It first started with Clay crushing on Amelia, then with B having a crush on Clay.

From middle school, Clay was older than the two. He was two years older than Amelia, who was a year older than B.

A cheerleader, Cate, made a move on Clay when he was a senior in high school. And because she was forcing friendship with B, B told her the truth: that she kind of liked the guy.

From her good heart, Cate agreed to help B tell how she felt to Clay, who at first was more than happy to accept her feelings.

Still, he had a thing for Amelia, who now saw the awkwardness creeping in between her two best friends.

To save his ass, Clay confessed to Amelia that B had kissed him. He said she forced it, which was untrue. By then, Amelia was more hurt that her best friend was forcing herself to another one of her best friends behind her back.

Infuriated, Amelia cut ties with B and helped spread the word that B had kissed Clay forcefully. Cate helped her friend B through it all, as Amelia and Clay dated for a while.

By then, Amelia was a sophomore, B was a freshman, and Clay was a senior. After the feud and Amelia dating Clay for two semesters, he graduated from high school and moved to Stanford University.

B and Amelia never talked to each other since then, and Cate never failed B. That's how their friendship came to be as it is now.

Now that many years have passed, Amelia knows how dumb the fallout with B was back then and has been thinking of asking her out on a date to sort things out.

Because of her memory, Amelia is aware of her shortcomings. She should have trusted B and defended her. They were friends, after all. Adolescence got the best of her. Amelia feels it more because she helped spread the rumors about it and even dated Clay until he graduated.

Since then, Clay has been looking for a way to Amelia's heart again. He is mature now and knows where he went wrong.

But Amelia knows not to trust anyone who lies about their best friends and kills a friendship like that because he wants to have it both ways.

Because of her family, Clay is afraid to face her and say anything. She assures him that the day he tries making a pass at her she will wreck his life

But when he knows where she is, he comes around displaying his maturity.

She told him maybe one day she would look at the gentleman in front of her and decide that he had changed.

Amelia has all the dirt on how many girls he dates at once and his cheating scandals with her brother, but Clay asserts that his love is for her only.

Although Amelia hates time wastage, she lets him waste it because it's his.

She knows he is there temporarily for business, but until it is done, he will continue stalking her like that and acting like an angel.

What will happen if Clay finds out Amelia is hanging out with Noah, a nobody?

B doesn't give two fucks about Clay and his whereabouts, he can die in hell for making her high school life a living hell and making people have the wrong ideas about her.

As for Amelia, she hates her guts, and that's why they never act like they know each other when they meet on campus.

B knows Amelia has a memory condition making her remember everything. That's why when she found a video addressed to her from Amelia saying how sorry she was for making her feel like she was immoral, B felt better.

She shared it with Cate, who advised her to do whatever she wanted, now that she was making the call.

That was a week ago, the day after Amelia and Noah went to get coffee in the cafeteria and ended up talking for hours.

She came to realization of how much she needed friends, and the only way to make one is to try making peace with the past.

As for Clay, she looked at him with mockery in her eyes as they waited for the two old ladies taking the same elevator to join.

She is still waiting for a reply.

Knowing B, Amelia knows it will take time for her to forgive. Until then, she will be forever sorry and ready to pick from where they left off.

As for Noah, Amelia had nothing to think about, just how funny a nobody like him made her want to settle past scores and start anew.

She knows better than to explain why she does things. Amelia is not the type to offer an explanation. Not to B nor acknowledge Noah's contribution to helping the two foes reconnect.
