Angel of the Unknown

I felt an eerie stillness creeping over my body the moment I laid eyes on him.

His features were flawless, with a sculpted chin, an aristocratic nose, and long, silken white hair falling like a waterfall.

His gaze contained a kind of curiosity that I couldn't quite place. He had an ethereal, angelic appearance, but his voice had a firm, masculine presence.

Regardless of how he appeared, it was obvious that he was a man.

And he was without question the one who put me inside Melissa's body as well.

"My, my," he breathed deeply and  a sly grin on his lips, "you seem to have found yourself in quite a splendid situation again, Yujin."

He spoke with a comfortable atmosphere, but there was something strange about him that I couldn't ignore, especially in his tone of voice.

"Yujin!"

When he called my name, I was taken aback. An inexplicable force that had been shaking me for a while but suddenly vanished when he called my name.

''Could you spare a moment to look at me?" he requested, his piercing gaze pinning me in place.

I can't even look at him steadily because of how visually appealing and captivating he is, but I can't help but remember what Melissa told me: 'I should not listen to him'.This may be all about this guy because he is the only man I can talk to.

But I couldn't just let him say whatever he wanted. I mustered my courage and explained wholeheartedly "I'm.. being cautious, because I don't know whom to trust."

He smirked at my words, a disconcerting expression on his face.

"Don't trust the one who placed you safely in this wonderful place?" he asked.

"I didn't sign up for this, Mr. Angel," I retorted, my voice trembling slightly.

"But here you are... living quite comfortably in a palace many would envy." His words cut through the eerie silence of the dark forest. I was sitting on a rough log, its jagged edges digging into my palms, surrounded by an impenetrable wall of trees.

The only source of light was a crackling fire in front of me, its warm glow casting flickering shadows that danced around us.

His ethereal presence seemed out of place in this rustic setting, like a mythical creature emerging from the depths of the woods.

"Yeah, I'm lucky... Do you want me to say it more?"

"Relax, Yujin, I'm not here to devour you."

I responded, keeping my poker face, "But you do look quite hungry," but on the inside, I shivered slightly at the sight of his unsettling smile.

Laughter erupted from him like an uncontainable storm, causing me to halt in my tracks.

His laughter had a carefree quality as if he'd never known a worry in his life. It echoed around the dark forest, carrying a bizarre sense of delight.

"AHAHAHAH... you're so funny," he managed to say between his laughs. His eyes sparkled with mirth, and for a moment, the seriousness seemed to dissolve into thin air. "Maybe I should put you in the body of a comedian."

"Ahahaha, that's not a bad idea," I responded, a grin breaking across my face. "But if you keep laughing like that, people might start to think you've escaped from a mental hospital."

His laughter resonated even louder, filling the space around us. It was a strange sensation, sharing such a bizarre moment of humor with someone who was, well, not entirely human.

"No one else is here, Yujin," he chuckled heartily, the sound echoing around us like an eerie symphony. The humor in his eyes was palpable, and it struck me in a way that sent a shiver down my spine.

His words cause me to pause. This is only making me more anxious.

Amidst the unusual situation, embarrassment still tingled in the corners of my cheeks. It was then that he chose to speak.

"So... back to the real topic," he stated, his voice dripping with a kind of assurance that made my unease spike.

I tilted my head slightly, playing dumb as I inquired, "What topic would that be?" I tried to mask my apprehension, but there was no fooling him.

With a sense of purpose that sent a shiver down my spine, he revealed his intent, "I've come to take you."

My eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Huh? What are you talking about?" I stammered, my eyes darting around in search of any sign that this was a prank or some bizarre dream.

"I can offer you another life, a body where you can move freely....It won't be that of an infant, but instead, a person of great wealth and influence.".

I took a breath, caught in a tidal wave of emotions, torn between the allure of freedom and the reassuring embrace of a loving family.

It had only been a week since I had arrived, but the warmth and care I had received from this family felt like a treasure I wasn't ready to give up.

"Yujin," he said gravely, his voice carrying a weight of concern, "Have you ever truly contemplated what will happen to the person who rightfully owns that body you're in now?"

I nodded slowly, my mind flashing back to the moment when I had glimpsed her, the true owner of this vessel.

"If you choose to remain in this body," he continued solemnly, "the original occupant will gradually fade away... like a forgotten memory."

"But I'm not ready yet," I protested, my voice trembling with uncertainty.

"It feels like just yesterday when you placed me in this body, and now you want me to move to another one?"

"Yujin, if you're not prepared," he reiterated with a solemnity that sent shivers down my spine, "you will lose everything."

"Why are you suddenly scaring me?" I cried out, my confusion and fear bubbling to the surface.

He sighed softly, a hint of sadness in his eyes. "I understand the turmoil you're experiencing, Yujin."

"No! You don't..." I trailed off, my voice quivering, "Can't you just please leave me alone?!"

His sigh hung in the air like a heavy cloak of uncertainty, a haunting echo of our conversation.

It was as if the weight of his words lingered, pulling me into a chasm of contemplation.

And then, with a final, almost mournful breath, he disappeared. As he faded away, so did the entire world around me, melting like mist in the early morning sun.

When my eyes fluttered open, I was greeted by the gentle, glowing visage of Alexa, my ever-attentive caretaker.

"Good morning, Little princess," Alexa cooed with a warm smile, her voice like a soothing melody in the tranquility of my chamber.

I had no idea he would act in that manner. I anticipated that he would hurt me in some way.

Since I'm not sure who to believe in this world, I still don't know much about myself. But what he said surprised me so much that I started to second-guess what I was going to do to myself.
