She had a pretty good dream. In her dream, she had all her favourite food. Stacks and stacks of it, as far as her eyes could see. She was happily eating them one plate at a time when someone shook her gently.

She swatted the hand away and the shaking became more prominent. It was her favourite dessert and she sighed and whined just as someone leaned closer to listen to what she was saying.

Finally, she woke up to see Sam leaning really close to her.

Ah yes, the destroyer of her dreams! She couldn't believe her luck.

She slowly sat up.

"What happened?" she looked at the fire that Sam had set. He had a pack full of hunting gear and in it came with some survival essentials.

"I saw you running away from that wolf, tried to stop you from the slope but you ran right into me and we both fell and landed here," Sam explained pointing to the cave.

It was a small cave, probably one that hunters created to rest for the night. Scarlet glanced out and could tell that it was night. So they had to spend the night here, which was perfect.

This was better than prefect. She couldn't have planned this better.

"You look cheery," Sam noted and Scarlet nodded.

"I think you're aware that I like you, Sam," she decided to head straight to the very point.

Sam nodded lightly, his boyish face turned slightly red. Why did she feel like a predator? Scarlet lamented, but she continued. She had to win this anyway, or the system could bury her here.

Slowly, she lifted her hands and she hugged Sam's neck as he froze and looked at her.

"You're sure this is what you want as it is what I'm looking for," Sam paused as gentlemanly as he could, and Scarlet nodded her head firmly.

She wanted to be with Sam. She needed to be with him. It should change the trajectory of things if he held some form of attraction to anyone in this world, as what the system strongly suggested.

"Mmhmm," she nodded. If opportunity came knocking, she wasn't about to say no. Seeing as how Sam had just magically shown up at the crucial moment.

Sam blushed before leaning in to kiss her. She placed her hands around him and he froze a little, seemingly affected by her touch. Scarlet looked at him, puzzled, and he shook his head before deepening the kiss. His lips landed all around her and she felt the heat that came with each kiss that landed on her. It tickled her and she let out a sound as it tingled her entire being. Night seemed to stretch between them.

Once they were done, Scarlet laid beside him the next morning. Her eyes rested on Sam as she heard him sigh.

"If only things were this simple," Sam murmured and Scarlet moved closer to him as she curled up into a tiny ball and placed herself beside him.

"It could be," Scarlet suggested, "We could head off and forget about this whole whole. Forget all that has happened..." And hopefully forget your grudges, she added.

Sam froze, before getting up and he wrapped his coat around Scarlet gently as he hugged her before planting a kiss on the top of her head.

"We'll have to go, I'll be responsible for this," he reassured Scarlet who sighed inwardly at the lost opportunity to run away, but she nodded head. The show had to go on.

At least, now she could say that she's with Sam! One step closer to victory.
