HOW WE ATE IN THE BROTHERHOOD

During my final year in high school, our class formed different “gangs,” and I was fortunate to be a part of an incredible gang. We had a diverse mix of intelligent individuals, humorous personalities, and guys who exuded confidence. While we did have some girls in our gang, the majority were boys.

We were more than just a group; we were a family. We looked out for one another and supported each other through difficult times. We were so close-knit that no one claimed ownership of their meals. You could bring food from home, but upon arriving at school, you’d be surprised to see where people kept their spoons. It became normal to walk around with spoons tucked in our socks or back pockets. These resourceful and quick-witted individuals were always ready to enjoy a good meal.

My friend Ibrahim and I noticed the routine our gang followed, so we devised a plan. We thought that if we bought snacks during our break, we could finish them before going back inside.
