Chapter 229: King Nothing

Entering in the Tavern blessed the four with a pleasant aroma of the finest foods, as well as certain fragrances of perfume and lighting that dazzles the eyes. Lamb, Steak, Duck, Pies, Fondu with Small, Crusty Breads impaled on small pitchforks, a Chocolate Fountain to serve as dessert, with Marshmallows served on the side to catch such melted goodness, Pasta's of different shapes and sizes, and a large Dosa, being able to be cut into smaller pieces so the people can serve themselves with their own flavor of toppings and spices. Harvard immediately went to take some Lamb, alongside some rice and beans, as well as a few plantains to create a fine meal. Zazel would take some Gnocchi, and Stolas would be quick on snatching a Dosa for himself, mixing it with some cream, Sambar, and a smidge of peppers to provide a harsher kick. Only Solomon would be focused on gathering the quests, though he does guide Shady to take a few Marshmallows and see if he can roast them. Once the kids got their meals and began to chow down, the Biblical Sorcerer planted the papers in the middle of the table they stayed on, going over the missions that are available, both as to motivate their spirits again, as well as to get some money to do an investigation for the murders.

Much to their shock, however, there's only two missions available, as everything else was either already taken or solved at an earlier date: A request for a trip across the ocean to discover a golden land and a wedding. Harvard would be shocked at how so little they had to work with, prompting his friends to think a bit. "We MAY need to get a method of having cash outside of these quests. You think you have a way to pull it off?" Solomon would request.

Harvard merely shook his head. "Even if I did, I'm pretty sure it would make me a giant target for people to come after me, right? Y'now, the whole bounty hunter stuff." As he answered the Biblical Sorcerer's question, Zazel would perk up upon hearing such words.

"Bounty...hunters?" He would ask.

Harvard would raise an eyebrow at his confusion, before explaining himself. "Y'now....People who kill for money? Is that...not a word you're familiar with? They can also go as brokers and stuff, that sort of thing?"

Zazel's eyes widened a bit as he recalled his last encounter with such a person. "THAT COUNTS!? SERIOUSLY!? How the heck does that even count to begin-" Before he would finish his sentence, due to his voice catching the attention of others, the pedestrians took notice and began to whisper amongst themselves, recognizing one of the children. Their voices were audible enough to hear, and enough to make Harvard panic slightly.

"Heeey, isn't that the kid that blew up a dock in Salvandi?"

"He's also responsible for mass arson in Oaking too, wasn't he?"

"We might need to get some officials to keep an eye on him then..."

"Can't be safe 'round the kid, that's for sure..."

"I get'cha. Someone even said he's trying to be a hero, right? Get real.."

Harvard would hide himself under the table, completely shaming himself and being completely embarrassed at how he was being recognized, let alone being taken account of his own actions. His friends looked on one another, sighing to themselves, understanding that his crimes weren't forgotten within the short span. Solomon would try to calm the pedestrians to avoid any legal issues, whilst Stolas and Zazel attempted to cheer Harvard up. Just as they tried to ease the situation, a loud slam was heard from the entrance. "SOMEONE! ANYONE! YOU MUST HELP ME!!!" A man would shout. A Man that Harvard and Zazel began to feel regret even further, hiding themselves away simultaneously, with everyone watching the man enter into the tables. A Man with nothing but garbage and silver, taking a facade as proper jewels and garbs, as his clothes, his sibling following closely.

Unfortunately for the children, the man recognized them immediately and rushed to their aid, getting onto his hands and knees, laying down onto the ground, sobbing and begging for their help. "My gallant Knights! I wish to apology on my behalf for such inconceivable behavior and ignorance! I need your help, more than ANYTHING in the world! Please, please help your king, for he weeps and cries for the loss of his people! I beg of you-hu-hu..." He would shout, tears coming down his eyes, snot coming down on his nose, being so desperate, that the audience completely forgot about such crimes the Card Magician caused, instead taking pity on the boy for dealing with such a lunatic.

His sibling, one adored with more traditional clothing of a white, frilly shirt, black pants, and buckled shoes, was quick to step in. "Pay no mind! Don't worry! We're just here to submit a mission! It's ok! It's all good!" She would state, attempting to maintain control in the situation, while getting down to her knees and providing her brother with some napkins. "Pull it together, Gabriel! You're not gonna get help if you're crying like a baby without giving them context!" She would state, yet her words fell on deaf ears as the 'King' wailed in a dismal manner, visibly distraught, having his sibling try to provide comfort in his desperate time. Harvard and Zazel looked amongst one another in a wincing expression, not being sure what to do in this situation. They looked towards their friends, who simply shook their head in concern. Despite never seeing such a man, in those few seconds, they recognized that he feels like a lost cause already.

And yet, even when things are low, Harvard takes a deep breath, musters up the courage, and nods to the woman. "Alright. Fine. What does Gobbo want?" He would ask, with a disturbed reaction from his friends, having them be forced to deal with such a man for the rest of the day.
