Wedding plans

Annabelle sat at her desk, her fingers flying across the keyboard as she diligently typed away. The office was quiet, save for the sound of her typing and the occasional muted conversation from down the hall. She was fully engrossed in her work, determined to finish the task at hand before the day was over.

Suddenly, there was a knock on her door. Annabelle looked up from her computer screen, her eyebrow raised in surprise. She wasn't expecting anyone at this time, especially with her boss out for the day. She quickly saved her work and stood up, walking towards the door. As she opened it, her face immediately softened into a smile.

"Cindy! I've missed you," Annabelle exclaimed, opening her arms for a hug.

Cindy walked into the office, her expression serious. She was a blonde-haired lady with an air of professionalism around her. Despite her typically cheerful nature, Annabelle couldn't help but notice the tension in her friend's face.

"Do you really take me as your friend?" Cindy finally spoke in a questioning tone. "The company sent us on a business trip, and I got back hearing news of your engagement to the boss. When did this all start? And why did you keep it a secret from me?"

Annabelle's smile faltered, taken aback by Cindy's sudden serious demeanor. She closed the door behind her and motioned for Cindy to take a seat. Annabelle herself sat next to her friend, her mind racing to find the right words to say.

"Calm down, babe. It's not what you think," Annabelle started, her voice quiet but firm. "It happened suddenly. He just asked me to marry him, and I... I accepted."

Cindy looked at her friend, her eyes searching for the truth. Annabelle could understand Cindy's confusion. After all, she had been admiring their boss, Mr. Edwards, for years now. But their relationship had always been professional, so Annabelle could understand why Cindy might feel hurt and left out.

Taking a deep breath, Annabelle decided to be honest with her friend."I'm sorry I let you hear the news outside" she said in an apologetic tone, turning to hug Cindy.

"I know you'd accept his proposal. You've been admiring him for years now," Cindy pointed out with a smile.

Cindy hugged her back, her voice tinged with both relief and teasing. "I'm glad your dreams are finally becoming a reality. Don't forget to promote me when you become the boss's wife," she jokingly remarked.

Annabelle chuckled, feeling the tension between them slowly dissipating. "We've got a wedding to plan," Cindy exclaimed, her eyes brightening with excitement.

As they started discussing wedding details, Annabelle couldn't help but wonder how their friendship had come to this point. She and Cindy had met three years ago during their job interviews at the company. They had instantly clicked, both determined and motivated individuals ready to take on the world. Despite being assigned to different departments, they had managed to remain close friends thanks to their shared lunch breaks and after-work hangouts.

"So, how was the business trip?" Annabelle finally asked, her curiosity getting the best of her.

Cindy shrugged, a hint of weariness in her eyes. "It was exhausting, to be honest. But we managed to secure some important deals for the company. Mr. Edwards wasn't happy with my presentation though, so I'll have to work extra hard to prove myself."

Annabelle nodded sympathetically, understanding the demands of their job. She had seen firsthand how Mr. Edwards was a tough boss, but he also had a fair and discerning eye for talent. She knew Cindy had what it took to succeed, and she hoped her friend would be recognized for her hard work soon.

As Annabelle and Cindy continued their wedding planning conversation, they couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for the future. Despite the initial shock and confusion, their friendship remained strong. And as Cindy playfully teased Annabelle about her newfound role as the boss's wife,

Someone came knocking at the door again, "come in" Cindy instructed.

The door sprang open and Mr Quinn Edwards walked into the office.

Cindy stood up, greeted Edwards and excused herself leaving Edwards and Annabelle alone at the office.

Edwards reached out to the pocket of his neatly ironed black shirt and brought out a small box, he walked towards the direction where Annabelle was seated.

"Annabelle" Edwards called out her name sounding serious.

She quietly observed his every action, wondering what he was up to this time.
