Robert Thomson panicked. Even apples couldn't save her - what was wrong with her? He immediately asked, "Where do you feel uncomfortable? Is it your ankle? Your knee? Or your elbow?"
"Robert," Emma Smith faintly called out, startling him as he quickly sat down beside her. She leaned her head on his shoulder, and his hand gently stroked up and down her back. "Emma, tell me what's wrong, and I'll find a solution."
Emma said nothing, causing Robert more distress. Leaning against him, she only now realized that today's grievances, pain, and worries had all come flooding back, and she couldn't help but sob.
Her crying scared Robert even more, afraid that something he said had angered her.
"Emma, don't cry! What's wrong? If I did something wrong, just tell me!"
Sometimes, for women, the more someone tries to console them, the more they cry. The more Robert talked, the more Emma felt utterly wronged! It wasn't just her - Little Lucky, Tommy, everyone had been wronged!
