Chapter 9: Covered in Blood_1

It was the peak of rush hour, and traffic was congested. When Bella Scott finally arrived at Cherden Hotel, it was already half past seven.

She entered the elevator, and just as she was about to press the button, Edward Anderson and Saylor Bennett also stepped in.

Saylor Bennett hadn't expected to see Bella Scott in Edward Anderson's hotel, knowing full well that Bella and Edward were at odds. Moreover, when Edward entered the elevator, he never spared Bella a glance, further confirming Saylor's belief that Edward still harbored resentment towards Bella.

"Bella, I didn't expect to see you here. Are you still not over Edward, following him all the way here?" Saylor said, her words dripping with sarcasm, and her gaze on Bella clearly malicious.

Bella focused intently on the elevator's display, not taking the bait.

"You should give up, you know? Even if you were to attempt suicide in front of Edward again, he wouldn't give you a second glance," Saylor said as she deliberately grabbed Bella's wrist to look at it.

After two years, a hideous scar still remained, time unable to completely erase the wound.

Edward's peripheral vision also caught sight of the scar on Bella's wrist, and he couldn't help but be momentarily lost in thought...

By this time, Bella had reached the 8th floor. As she tried to leave the elevator, Saylor clung to her, refusing to let go. "You don't need to be so upset just because I touched a nerve. Out with the old, in with the new; I heard you're going to marry Mr. Brown soon. Sure, he's a bit older, but at least he knows how to cherish someone. Once you give birth to a chubby baby for him, you'll make a comeback -"

"Saylor Bennett, if you want to get a room with Edward, hurry up, can't you see he's getting impatient?" Bella interrupted Saylor's constant prattling.

How could a woman be so annoying? No wonder Edward didn't want to marry Saylor. If even she, as a woman, couldn't stand her, how could an ill-tempered, hypocritical, and cunning person like Mr. Anderson do so?

Thanks to Bella's reminder, Saylor noticed that Edward's expression had turned slightly gloomy.

She didn't dare hold onto Bella any longer and watched as Bella walked away.

As soon as Bella left, the temperature inside the elevator plummeted, and Saylor felt her breath constricted. Grasping for something to say, she continued, "Bella really is something. Even when she's hurt, did she really have to fall for a woman? Now, she brought it on herself. She's marrying an old pervert like Mr. Brown. Once she's married into his household, who knows..."

"Hasn't anyone ever told you that your tongue is unbearable?" Edward spoke up before striding away.

Now alone in the elevator, Saylor couldn't believe that Edward, who seldom scolded others, had indirectly insulted her as a gossipmonger in front of others!

When Randy Hill entered Edward's office, he found Edward lost in thought, still sitting in his chair.

"Mr. Anderson, aren't you leaving the office?" Randy asked, puzzled.

He knew that Edward had just married Bella. Even if work was busy, shouldn't Edward be going home?

Edward remained silent, his pupils dilated, completely absorbed in his thoughts.

At that moment, someone knocked on the door and entered; it was the hotel's room service manager: "Mr. Anderson, something happened in room 805."

Edward's eyebrows twitched, as he recalled that Bella had exited the elevator on the 8th floor.

He quickly left his office and headed to the 8th floor.

As soon as he stepped out of the elevator, he saw a bloodied figure standing at the door of room 805. For a moment, he froze in place.

"Miss Scott?!" Randy, who also recognized the figure as Bella, was shocked.

He quickly ran forward to Bella and asked, "Miss Scott, are you all right?"

It was terrifying. Since she could still stand and move, was she just injured? But why was her entire body covered in blood?
