THE FIFTH ELEMENT 🌊🔥🌪️⛰️☯️
CHAPTER 23⛰️⛰️⛰️
CASSIE'S POV
I was deep in sleep, dreaming about chaos happening in the school premises. I don't know how it started but everyone was running around trying to find a safe place to hide from the disaster that was taking place.
I heard Madeline calling out my name, I slowly opened up my eyes, not sure if this was still a dream or if it was reality.
"Cassie Cassie, you gotta wake up! Something's going on out there. We have to go see what it is." Madeline's voice was filled with worry.
"Huh?" I managed to say as I tried to make out meaning from what she was saying.
I was still half asleep.
"Cassie, come off it. We need to go." Madeline said while shaking me to reality.
"What's going on? What's all that noise?" I said once I was completely awake.
"I think our school is under attack." She said to me.
"What ? What do you mean? What are you talking about?" I asked her with a little panic growing inside me.
"Look, this might sound weird but this school, this whole realm isn't all jolly and magic and lovely all the time. There's a danger that lingers around here. Outside the gates but sometimes, it squeezes itself in here with us. Which is the main reason why we train in combat in the first place." She explained to me.
"Wait I'm lost. Are you trying to say that we're in danger right now?" I asked her.
"Exactly what I'm trying to say. We need to move. Go somewhere safe." She replied.
"Somewhere safe? I don't get it." I said to her as I was still confused.
"Just shut up and follow me. Please." She snapped at me.
"Fine. But you still have to explain this better."
"I know I know. I promise when everything dies down I'll explain everything even more. Okay ?" Madeline said to me.
"Okay." I simply said.
Madeline nodded and went straight for the door.
She slowly opened the door and peeked through a small opening before she opened the door widely and motioned for me to follow her.
I saw that she was tiptoeing so I decided to mimick her steps.
We were passing the doors along our dorm when Sage's door swiftly flew open.
Both Madeline and I almost screamed out in fear but immediately held our mouths with our hands after a little shriek sound had left already.
"Shush!!!" Sage aggressively shut us up.
"Sorry. We thought you were something else." Madeline said to her in a whisper.
Sage just rolled her eyes at her.
"Let's just get to the safe place without drawing any attention to ourselves." Sage said and led the way.
"Okay boss." Madeline said sarcastically but still followed sage's lead.
We walked down the hall quietly until we passed a certain room.
The door was opened wide and we could see what was happening inside.
I froze at the spot, in shock of what I was witnessing.
A figure that looked like a man but wasn't. I'm not sure what it was, but there was a gust of black smoke or will I say shadow emitting from his body.
His eyes black as the night. His hands deformed in such an inhumanly way.
He looked like an embodiment of something evil.
This creature had his hand on the head of an innocent student, there seemed to be an exchange of energy because the black gust surrounding this creature was making it's way into the nostrils and ears of the student..
The poor boy was struggling but couldn't break free from the hold of this creature.
After a few seconds, the boy stopped struggling to be free.
The next thing that happened was what frightened me the most.
The creature suddenly let go of the boy and the boy staggered a bit before recovering his stance.
Black veins appeared on his face and when he opened up his eye, they were midnight black. His eyes were now identical to the creature's own.
All of us seemed to be taken aback from what was happening since neither of us moved.
Madeline mistakenly took a step back thereby making a cracking sound with the floor that was made of wood.
The two black pairs of eyes suddenly turned to us.
Oh no. They must have heard that cracking sound as well.
"Shiiiit! Run!" Sage screamed loudly and the three of us picked a race.
We ran as fast as we could.
I wasn't as fast as Sage or Madeline as I was behind them.
I kept looking back to check if the creature was running after us and unfortunately it was. It was running faster than I thought.
I feared it would catch up to us soon.
Me in particular as I was behind.
"Come on run faster! We're almost there!" Sage yelled at me and Madeline..
I tried to run as fast as I could but my legs wouldn't carry me any faster than it already was.
Sage stopped in front of a giant door that was in front of us and knocked aggressively on it.
Madeline caught up to her as quickly and joined her in knocking.
The giant door suddenly opened and it looked like alot of people were inside the place already.
I ran as fast as I could to meet up with them, as everyone inside the room was cheering me to run faster.
I was almost at the door but my leg entered an imbalanced ground and I tripped and fell.
I knew I just messed up when I looked up to see everyone's faces of shock.
Oh no.
I slowly turned to look back just to see the creature very close to me. Just mere inches behind me.
I was once again frozen with fear. I couldn't move.
The creature slowly raised it's hand, bringing it towards my head.
I almost gave up but recovered when a blast of fire flew over my head from the opposite direction and landed directly on the creature's impeding hand.
I looked over to where the fire came from and saw Jake standing there, his eyes were blazing gold mixed with red color.
He looked pissed. Not scared but pissed.
"Get up." He said to me without even looking at me and I quickly complied.
He conjured up a blazing fire sword with his mind and held it with style.
I ran behind him to shed myself from any harm that may arise.
He threw a pit ball of fire to the creature and the creature winced in pain.
"You should go inside with the rest. I'll handle this." Jake said to me.
"No. I'm staying." I argued.
He gave me a faustrated look before launching towards the creature with his sword.
I stood there not knowing what to do to help.
I thought hard on what to do and decided to try something.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
Seconds pasted and my eyes were still closed.
When I finally opened them up, I saw that the creature had it's hand on Jake's forehead, and Cara was launching towards the creature with a sword 🗡️ of her own.
I took a good look at the creature, trying to make a connection with it's mind.
Then I finally got it.
The creature let go of Jake and it's shoulders sagged in defeat.
There was plain confusion on the face of Jake and his sister Cara.
They didn't understand what was happening then.
I smirked as I made the creature kneel in front of us all with it's head down.
Jake looked back and forth from the creature and to me.
So did Cara.
So did everyone else that was witnessing what was happening.
I looked over to Jake and signaled for him to finish what he was doing.
Jake nodded as if understanding the signal I gave to him.
He raised his sword above the creature's head and slid it onto it's skin.
The creature's body fell dead, which earned gasps from the people inside the mighty room.
"Whoa. What the hell just happened?" Cara asked, her eyes still on the creature that was now on the floor.
🔥🔥🔥
The whole students that were hiding in the safe room reluctantly came out one by one.
We all gathered around the creature's body in silence.
Eventually everyone sat on the floor waiting for the morning sun to rise.
No one could sleep after what just happened.
☯️☯️☯️
Once the morning brightness shun through the windows of the dorm hall, everyone decided it was safe and started chattering with one another over what went on last night.
I got looks from every direction and I heard certain people whispering my name in gossip.
The sound of the door opening got everyone on their feet.
"Goodness. What happened here last night?"The principal asked, her eyes fixed on the creature's body laying on the center of the hall way.
The whole security panel was with her, and so was the other elementals.
They all looked shocked at the sight in front of them.
I looked over to Jake and he returned my gaze just as quickly.
After some seconds, I looked away from him and focused back on the creature that was on the ground.
I guess my secret is out now.
