Chapter 21: Yu Wei, Impersonation?

"Do you have any non-serious books? If not, don't block my way." Liang Yi said coldly.jpg

"This...this, I really don't have any non-serious ones," the fat man stuttered. If he dared sell something inappropriate, he'd probably be in jail the next second. Plus, who knows if this guy was an undercover enforcer? What if he brought out his treasured collection only to end up both broke and busted?

"I will give you a lot of spiritual coins~" Liang Yi winked at Su Youyi, signaling not to worry, then turned and put his arm around the fat man's shoulder, enticing him as he casually took out a handful of spiritual coins.

"I have read many books, you know. You can't fool me." The fat man gazed at the sparkling spiritual coins in Liang Yi's hand, struggling internally, clenching and unclenching his fist, finding it hard to decide.

"Are you trying to insult me, a scholar, with money?" The fat man wanted to rebuke Liang Yi loudly, but alas, the money in Liang Yi's hand was just too shiny.

Ah, the scent of gold!

"What book, Uncle Liu?" Liang Yi smiled.

Although the fat man didn't understand what Liang Yi was talking about, he decided not to oppose the money.

Just when the fat man was about to take a gamble, Liang Yi patted his shoulder and laughed:

"Just kidding, just kidding!"

"Alas!" The fat man sighed, whether out of disappointment or relief.

"Senior brother?" Su Youyi looked at her senior brother in confusion, not understanding his sudden interest in this fat man.

"Haha, I just found this fat man quite likeable, it's no bother," Liang Yi waved it off.

Liang Yi wasn't really free enough to tease people for no reason; it's just that this fat man had some background, the only heir of the Wind God Commerce's big boss: Yu Wei.

In a previous life, players who were present at the opening of the server in Qingfeng City had encountered this character. After being charmed and coaxed by him, they thought the books he sold contained hidden Cultivation Techniques or Skills, spending quite a bit of unjustified money.

Later on, this person disappeared from Qingfeng City and instead started selling various ordinary things in major cities of the Immortal Dynasty, albeit under different disguises, unnoticed by the players.

It wasn't until a bored connoisseur player, who liked to follow NPCs to see where they came from and where they went, tracked him and discovered the true identity of this fat man. Once the players knew he was a powerful connection, every time Yu Wei appeared in any city under any disguise, he would be recognized by the players.

After Yu Wei realized his identity was exposed, he disappeared from the public eye for a while, only to reappear in the later stages as the head of Wind God Commerce among players.

Yu Wei felt a bit uneasy, twisting his body. He always felt that this handsome young man before him seemed to see through his disguise, which made him uncomfortable.

"Meeting is fate; I'll just pick a random book," said Liang Yi, as he casually selected a book that looked ancient and handed Yu Wei two spiritual coins.

Yu Wei clumsily caught the spiritual coins, feeling a mix of gratefulness and confusion: Good people are hard to find nowadays, but how did he know the price of a book was two spiritual coins?

"Mó Nì," Su Youyi leaned in to check the book in Liang Yi's hands; it seemed to be about friendship, so she paid it no further mind.

Liang Yi nodded to Yu Wei, who was still stupefied by the spiritual coins, then pulled Su Youyi away, planning to head to Little Bamboo House in town to deliver the items first.

"Senior brother, that man just now was no ordinary person," Su Youyi remarked as she admired the bustling cityscape and spoke to Liang Yi.

"Indeed, the Young Master of Wind God Commerce is not an ordinary person," Liang Yi made no attempt to hide this and directly revealed Yu Wei's identity.

"Ah? He didn't recognize the two of us?" Su Youyi withdrew her gaze from the candied hawthorn and, not dwelling on how her senior brother came to know this, instead focused her attention on another issue.

"His circumstances are somewhat unique. Ever since he's been capable of cultivating, his father threw him out early to learn how to make money, unlike the typical commerce guild personnel who are well-informed about all the major forces and figures," Liang Yi bought the two best-looking candied hawthorns and handed one to Su Youyi while explaining.

In this world, there are no such things as widely recognized newcomer rankings or grandmaster rankings. Little Bamboo House doesn't have the capacity to do such things. If they ranked people and then someone took offence and came to their doorstep, they wouldn't be able to hold up.

Therefore, they just turn all the various strange happenings into a magazine, detailing the famous deeds done by people from all the different groups and clans. It's up to the readers to discuss and evaluate who is stronger or weaker among the characters in the book.

Few of these magazines include portraits, so the general populace only knows of these incredible figures, but not what they actually look like. It's only the sects and powers that have jade tubes to document people's appearances, which are distributed to disciples. They are encouraged to learn from other sect's disciples and to avoid causing any trouble when venturing outside.

"That makes sense. Without you mentioning it, who could possibly recognize us?" Su Youyi realized the truth as if enlightened. She thought it was strange that the people under Wind God Commerce knew them, yet the Young Master had no reaction at all.

"There's no need to pay attention to him anymore. We shouldn't encounter him again in the short term," Liang Yi intended to finish delivering the goods and then set off for West Capital immediately.

When the two arrived at Little Bamboo House to meet with the person in charge, Zhang Feng, they were enthusiastically welcomed and treated with good food and drink.

Liang Yi and Su Youyi savored the local specialty, Spiritual Tea, and before long a tall and skinny middle-aged man pushed the door open and entered.

"I apologize for making the two honored disciples of Taoist Sect wait. Truly sorry, a sudden emergency came up that held me back!" After stepping in, Zhang Feng bowed continuously to Liang Yi and Su Youyi, apologizing for his own negligence.

"There's no need for such courtesy, Mr. Zhang. A delay of this length is trivial," Liang Yi and Su Youyi stood up and replied.

"Sigh, it is indeed my fault. May I ask what brings Young Hero Liang and Fairy Su here?" Zhang Feng poured himself a cup of tea and sat down in front of Liang Yi and Su Youyi.

"My senior brother and I are here on behalf of Lv Cheng from Pan Yang Town to deliver something," Su Youyi briefly informed Zhang Feng about their mission.

"Oh, I see. It must be that young Lv Cheng asking me for a favor, and he has even gone to the trouble of having both of you make this journey," Zhang Feng said as if he had come to a realization, seeming to understand something.

Upon hearing this, Liang Yi inwardly furrowed his brow, sensing something was off.

Whatever Lv Cheng wished for surely would have been known by Zhang Feng in advance, hence why Lv Cheng had entrusted them to come here. However, in Zhang Feng's response, he acted as if he was unaware. Moreover, considering the relationship between the two of them, neither would have used the word "request."

"It's possible that he said it for our sake," Liang Yi conjectured, realizing that the matter was related to Lv Cheng's life and they had to be discreet in what they said.

Liang Yi did not dwell on it further, sensing no one else was around, he pulled the jade tube out from his ring and handed it over to Zhang Feng.

But just as Zhang Feng smiled and was about to put the jade tube into his ring, Liang Yi suddenly grabbed his hand!

The System did not indicate that the mission was complete! This person was not Zhang Feng!

Liang Yi managed to maintain a composed expression, but inner turmoil surged within him.
