Chapter 34: The Dessert in Hand Suddenly Became Unsweetened

Liang Yi took a dessert from Su Youyi's arms and casually handed her the jade box from his ring, drawing a puzzled look from his junior sister.

"Here's a gift for you."

Just as Liang Yi was about to taste the Fenghua Honey Spirit Cake and see if the flavor from his memory had changed, he suddenly felt an odd gaze on him. After looking around and finding nothing, Liang Yi was about to continue his action, but to his surprise, the strange feeling of being watched appeared again.

He looked down sharply!

Two children quickly wiped their mouths and turned their heads away.

"Ah, I told you I dislike children." Liang Yi divided the cake into three parts, handing the two smaller ones to Yuan Hua and Yuan Jiaming.

"Eat! You can only have the small pieces!"

"Thank you, brother!"

"Brother is so nice!"

Yuan Hua took the cake, shared a piece with his sister, and both of them timidly said thank you.

Liang Yi was so used to this deja vu feeling that he couldn't even bother commenting, and he swallowed his piece of Fenghua Honey Spirit Cake without even tasting it.

Liang Yi glanced at his junior sister and noticed she was still daydreaming while holding the box.

"What's wrong? Don't you like the box?"

"Ah? Oh, no! No!" Su Youyi quickly denied, shaking her small head like a bobblehead.

As the siblings continued to savor their delicious cakes, they looked up at their extremely pretty senior sister, feeling she looked somewhat like them, perhaps in a childish way.

"It's just that it's my first time receiving a gift from my senior brother, and I'm really happy!" Su Youyi explained, her eyes never leaving the jade box, sparkling curiously.

"Open it. This is only the first gift. Later on, senior brother will give you lots and lots of gifts and make your eyes dazzle!" Liang Yi turned and placed his hand on his junior sister's head, giving her a head pat.

"Okay!" Su Youyi excitedly took out the necklace from the box.

As the necklace appeared, Su Youyi's mouth gradually opened wider, her eyes shining brighter with excitement.

"Wow! It's so pretty!" Yuan Hua exclaimed, and Yuan Jiaming behind him kept nodding.

God knows how touched Su Youyi felt inside; she was so moved that she embraced Liang Yi right there on the street, burying her face into his chest.

"Senior brother, could you put it on for me?" A muffled yet discreetly joyful voice came from within his embrace.

Oh, the helplessness of Liang Yi, as he noticed more and more onlookers around them eyeing them curiously, he became somewhat stiff.

What could he do, but pamper her!

Ignoring everyone else, he took the necklace from his junior sister's hand, and gently threaded it through her night sky-like soft hair from front to back, placing this first gift on her.

"Wow, kiss! Give her a kiss!"

"Oh my, are young people nowadays so forthright?"

"That handsome young man has a bright future!"

The surrounding noise was incessant; bored pedestrians of West Capital enthusiastically applauded the two individuals, while the Yuan siblings, standing closest to the center, glanced at the Fenghua Honey Spirit Cake in their hands, wondering how much lemon juice was added during its preparation—it tasted so sour.

Su Youyi, with her sensitive nature, didn't dare to lift her head from her senior brother's embrace. After the initial intense joy, her face turned so red that it felt hot.

The moment Liang Yi put the necklace on for her, she immediately utilized the peak power of the Third Realm to teleport her senior brother and the two overly sour children to a secluded spot.

"Whew! Whew! Whew!"

Su Youyi moved her hands rapidly up and down to cool her flushed cheeks.

Liang Yi and the Yuan siblings squatted in a corner, feeling sick. The teleportation was too fast, their minds couldn't keep up.

"Ah, sorry! Sorry!" Seeing everyone's miserable condition, Su Youyi quickly apologized.

"It's... it's okay!" Liang Yi managed a weak wave with his pale face, while the two ordinary people were speechless.

Only after utilizing the All Living Beings Willow Wood Stone did Liang Yi and the others finally recover.

Su Youyi looked at the three with a face full of apologies. In her urgency, she hadn't considered everything. Lured by the vanilla almond candies in the bag, the Yuan siblings momentarily forgot their predicament, leaving Liang Yi speechless—it was like children placating other children.

"Let's go, to the City Lord's mansion!" Liang Yi scanned the surroundings and realized that they were not far from the City Lord's mansion.

From the outside, the City Lord's mansion didn't appear overly luxurious but was decently grand. After informing the gate guards about their visit from the Taoist Sect, Liang Yi and company patiently waited outside.

"Brother, sister, are you from the Taoist Sect?" Yuan Hua asked in surprise, never expecting that the ones who helped him and his sister through tough times were disciples of that sect—wasn't it rumored that the Taoist Sect's chief disciple had no talent for cultivation?

"Yes, it's that Taoist Sect," Liang Yi confirmed, trusting that the children wouldn't gossip.

"Young Hero Liang, Fairy Su, the general requests your presence, please follow me!" The guard greeted them with a bow, gesturing inside with his right hand.

"Thank you," Liang Yi said with a smile.

"You're too polite, Young Hero Liang," the guard replied with some trepidation.

"I heard the Clan Leader of the Yuan Family from Central State is also visiting Jiang Mansion?" Liang Yi asked tentatively, eager to quickly send away the two tagalongs—after all, he hadn't gotten a single piece of the vanilla almond candies bought by his junior sister!

"Yes, he's currently discussing some matters with the general in the hall," the guard replied without hesitation.

Upon hearing this, the Yuan siblings were visibly excited. The outside world was too dangerous and they yearned to return home.

As everyone followed the guard through the courtyard and multiple layers of security into the main hall, Liang Yi discreetly surveyed the place, noting that the City Lord's mansion maintained a relaxed facade but was tightly secured inside. Numerous hidden guards were concealed in the shadows.

"It's rather peculiar. What sort of issue requires such tight security in a place governed by a peak Sixth Realm? No wonder the head of the Yuan Family doesn't even allow his children to enter," Liang Yi contemplated, grateful that his status in the Taoist Sect allowed him to bring the two in.

Upon entering the hall, they saw a young man in a white robe, exuding a refined aura, resembling a scholar, standing at a place of honor and conversing with a stern-looking middle-aged man with a square face nearby.

"I assume you two must be the esteemed disciples of the Taoist Sect? I am Jiang Fufeng, and I have long admired your esteemed master!" The robed young man stood up enthusiastically upon seeing the group approaching.

"No need for such formalities, I am Liang Yi, and this is my junior sister Su Youyi; we are pleased to meet Elder Jiang!"

"The Taoist Sect's Su Youyi greets Elder Jiang!"

Liang Yi and Su Youyi respectfully bowed to Jiang Fufeng following the customs of their juniors, while the Yuan siblings rushed towards the square-faced middle-aged man as soon as they entered the door.

"Ha ha ha ha, your rebellious master has actually taught such well-mannered disciples, this is really rare!" Jiang Fufeng watched Liang Yi and Su Youyi bowing and couldn't help but laugh heartily, thinking of their master.
