Chapter Eleven: Seeds of Celebration

There was a moment in the alleyway I thought I saw Demi looking at me. It was just a flash. A moment so small I am not even sure it really happened or if it was a product of the seed.

I was on the ground, and the taste of blood filled my mouth. It’s kind of funny how I recognized just by the taste it wasn’t my blood that was on my tongue. Is it sad that I have had enough of my blood to taste that I could tell a difference?

Anyway, there she stood, watching every impact I was taking on my body as if she was watching a dogfight. I had just taken a solid blow from the guy with the tribal collar straight to the left side of my rib cage.

He was circling me like I was his prey. I was wheezing, trying to get the air he knocked out of me back into my lungs. That was when I found her.

She had this flash of humanity in her eyes. That humanity was written on her face like a wish or a regret. Then it was gone.
