Chapter Nineteen: Seeds of Submission

Fate closed his eyes and laid his head back slightly after our kiss. He was attempting to take in every moment of my touch.
It was an odd feeling I wasn’t used to. For me, it felt as if when I touched him was in some way healing. I wondered if he felt it too.
It wasn’t a biological type of healing. It was a soulful one. One that even though physically there was no reason to, I felt it in my bones.
“How do you not hate me right now?” I asked.
I couldn’t help myself. I needed to know if I was falling for someone whose only intention was to use me. Coming from a very similar situation, it didn’t seem illogical that I was only worth what I could give.
“Hate you? You saved my life,” he said this as if it was a shame I didn’t know this sooner.
The problem was, I knew this. I also knew his life needed saving only because of me.
“I ate that seed without permission, and they were there because of…” he cut me off
