Chapter 41: To Possess and Hold Dear—is That Not Love?

It was hard to believe their mission had started three weeks ago. Hard to believe that the demons Elanor knew were getting along with humans beyond her.

She watched from the wagon, taking a break while the others ate dinner, the kids playing in the snow having dragged some of the demons into it.

Leylin and Arko were going at it, making it look more like they were in a snowball war than a fight. Mithmore was indulging Sarah who was listening to her speak intently. Something a bit haughty but hey, Mithmore was one tough cookie, even if she could be a b*tch.

There were certainly worse people to like, like how Penny kept braiding Rostrada’s hair into wilder and wilder styles.

It wasn’t perfect, and every other night someone got their feelings hurt and broke into tears or stormed off into snow for some alone time and so they wouldn’t punt the little breakable humans, but if this was what peace was going to be then Elanor could really get behind something like this.
