Kate couldn't breathe. Her hands were shaking. She tried to inhale and exhale but she was doing it too fast. She was getting lightheaded.


A hand grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the sight of the corpse and the crowd of people. It was Veronica. The brunette didn't say a word to her as she dragged Kate towards the Merlin dorms. Kate felt her hands start to go numb.


Veronica unlocked her dorm room and led Kate inside, making her sit on the bed as Veronica rummaged around the room for something. Kate closed her eyes as she tried to calm her breathing. She opened her eyes when something lightly hit her on the face. Veronica was waving a paper bag frantically at her.


The paper bag had the logo of the burger joint on it and when Kate opened the bag, it still smelled of French fries. She couldn't be choosy so she started breathing through the paper bag. Veronica watched as Kate's breathing slowed down. Feeling was returning to her fingers.
