Chapter 7: Iris Miller

Seven

Iris Miller

I woke up in the morning to a knocking on my door. “Iris!” Keavy’s bubbly voice said. I’d met the pretty, redheaded witch the other night when we’d gone to Makali’s party. I opened it up. Dawn was nowhere to be found, and I suspected she’d stayed the night at her brothers. “There is someone here for you. He’s cute.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Does he come carrying coffee?”

She smiled. “He does.”

“Must be my boyfriend.” I smiled, and went to the door. James stood there smiling, a Starbucks cup in his hand. I’d gone to private school and we had met there. I’d hated him originally, but then somehow, he’d won me over. I still wasn’t really sure how. I think part of it was that he was six foot four, with blond hair, and intense cheekbones.

“Hi, gorgeous,” he said, handing me my coffee, and a paper bag, “I got you sustenance.”

I grinned, and peered inside, happy to find a breakfast sandwich in there. “You’re the best.”
