Entering the first floor we begin walking to the first room. We begin to make our rounds checking patients' charts and determining what we believe is wrong with them. After realizing that we needed a third party to break the tie, House called back Foreman who begrudgingly agreed to do it. Then he began deciding who he believed was correct.
At the end of the first floor, House was up by a few points. Then we proceeded to go through the next couple of floors with House still winning by a few points. Then we finally reached the ICU. We then walked to the first open room.
Inside we see a patient who is currently intubated. Then we see a fairly attractive middle-aged woman sitting at the bedside of the patient. She turns to us as we enter, making House and I pause for a second before House walks over to the patient's bed and grabs his chart handing it to me after giving it a look over.
"Don't worry we are Doctors, just double checking your… husband's information," House says trying to guess her relationship with the patient.
"Oh, ok… Though you look very young to be a Doctor," the woman says looking over to me.
"Just graduated med school and I'm teaching him the ropes," House says before I can respond.
"I–" the woman begins, but House cuts her off.
"So, Doctor Hunter, what do you believe is affecting this patient?" House says turning to me with an interested smirk.
I just look at House with an eye roll, before using a stethoscope and listening to his heart. As my experience with cardio problems is extremely high, along with detecting neurological problems, but usually I would need more intensive tests for the latter. However, I can detect even the smallest of issues as my 'ear' for heart-related problems is still there.
"He needs Glyceryl trinitrate, I can hear an Acute Coronary Syndrome," I say with House's eyes widening slightly before the interest he has in me increases even more.
"How, certain are you?" House says to me with Foreman even looking at me in surprise.
"One hundred percent," I say as House nods his head with Foreman listening to the heart too.
"I can't hear anything," Foreman says dismissing my statement after listening in.
"Foreman, let me see," House says grabbing the stethoscope and listening in. House is staring at me as he listens.
"Hunter is right, this man needs Glyceryl trinitrate," House says nodding his head and agreeing with me.
"Whatever, I'm done we've been doing this for a while now. Find someone else to watch you two," Foreman says leaving the room as House just ignores him and tells a nurse to get him the medication.
"So, want to work for me?" House says looking at me with interest.
"You won, I guess. So I don't really have a choice," I say since the 'game' seems to have ended with House in the winning spot.
"True, so I'll see you tomorrow morning. Though don't bother with the volunteer crap, just come straight to my office," House says as we walk to his office.
"House, what is this– Holy Crap it's true!" I hear a man's voice and turn to see a man in his early, mid-forties with brown hair and brown eyes. The spitting image of Dr. Wilson from the show.
"Hello, I'm Dr. Wilson," Wilson says to me seeing me standing next to House.
"Hi, I'm Gabe Hu–" I start to say with House cutting me off.
"Why are you here Wilson?" House says to him with a suspicious look in his eyes.
"Why else, because I heard you took someone under your wing and Cuddy wants to know why you aren't in the Clinic," Wilson says to him.
"I'm gonna go," I say walking away no longer wanting a part of this.
"Ok, see you tomorrow morning!" House says and then turns back to Wilson who begins questioning him about me.
I then find my Dad and tell him about what happened today. As he asked me why I wasn't there watching the surgery. Plus he heard that House took someone under his wing.
"House took you?!" Dad says to me as we are driving home.
"I'm not sure you want to come back to the hospital… House can be…" Dad says trying to tell me how House is, but I already know.
"I heard, though I also know he is an extremely good Doctor, so learning from him would be good for me. Plus it is only for a month or two," I say since summer is only so long and we are gonna head back a week before the school year begins to settle back into our apartment.
Like that, I spent the next couple of months learning from House, then hanging out with Alex, her family, and mine. Then summer finally came for us to head back to school. Where we met up with the twins. My time with House and his team has brought us closer, with them enjoying my company and looking forward to when I can officially join them.
(Time Skip. Deal with it!)
The years went by with Alex, me, and the twins going to school and only growing closer as friends. With us finally made it to our last year and graduation, the week before our graduation. We celebrated with our clubs and friends we made over the years. Then the day of graduation came.
I already received my acceptance into Medical School here at Harvard, with Alex being accepted into graduate school for her degree in Biochemistry. Maya got accepted too into graduate school for psychology, though Eric decided that was enough school and planned to learn to take over their Dad's position. At our graduation, our families came and so too did House as it seems he was excited to have me get into medical school so I could officially work for him.
My time in medical school flew by as everything seemed to come to me naturally. I pushed my engagement with Alex back as we both decided to completely finish our schooling before taking the next step in our relationship. By the time I finished Medical School, Alex had finished getting her PhD in Biochemistry, along with Maya getting her PhD in psychology. Eric had almost officially taken over their Dad's position, as their father was retiring soon.
Then the day finally came when we'd put our time here behind us and head back home. We packed up all our things, said our goodbyes, and boarded the plane back home. I had already gotten a position working under House. However, it seems I'm coming back when he is going through the process of picking others since he got rid of his old team. Not even Foreman came back, as it seems he kept his new position in New York.
Thankfully I'd be splitting my time between House and my father to learn the surgical part of the job. Alex would be working in the hospital too, but in the research area due to her degree. Alex and I got our own apartment near the hospital that way we'd have our own place. Unfortunately for Clarie and Phil, both Haley and Luke still live at home.
Luke is unsure what he wants to do with his life having dropped out of college and just messing around all day. Haley trying to get into fashion but hasn't asked me or my family for help even though they own one of the largest clothing companies in the world.
"You excited to start our lives?" I say to Alex as we board the plane back home. I already made plans to officially ask her to marry me, with Carlos helping me set something up.
"Yes! Finally, we are done school, got our degrees, and can start living our lives!" Alex says like the weight of the world was lifted off her shoulders.
"Good, plus we get to still see each other a lot. However, I'll be stuck with House most of the time," I say with a sigh, Alex has met House already and knows what he is like.
"Well, just learn what you can from him and hopefully a position will open up for you to move on," Alex says giving me a hopeful smile.
"Yeah hopefully," I say, I do get along with House, as much as someone can. Sometimes I feel like Wilson, but slightly different as House has taken me almost like the son he never had. But House has a hard time showing that.
Arriving home our families are here this time to greet us and welcome us back. They even hold a homecoming party for us at our new apartment. Which Phil was able to help us find. The next day Alex and I got into my car and drove to the hospital. Then we made our way to our respective areas.
I walked into House's office seeing it was empty, since House is usually not on time. I then make myself comfortable waiting for him, though this time I'm an official Doctor. After about ten minutes of me browsing Reddit, House walks in and gives me a tired look grabbing a cup of coffee.
"So, how is this gonna work if you and I are the only ones on your team?" I say breaking the silence since it has been a few weeks now since he fired his old team. With only me being the newest official hire.
"You and me should be enough. We are both the smartest people here, if not the world," House says with a laugh, I roll my eyes.
"Good you're here… Oh! Gabe, though I guess now it is Dr. Hunter. Did House hire you?" Cuddy asks walking in and I look at the house giving him an annoyed look as it seems he didn't run by new employment with Cuddy the head of the hospital.
"Uhm, yeah, sorry House didn't tell you. I figured even he would have mentioned it by now," I say as House shrugs ignoring us both.
"I'm glad you're here. With your grades and high recommendations, you will make an invaluable member of the team. All you need is a few more surgical hours under your belt and you'll be one of our best I'm sure… Though House you still need two more members," Cuddy says turning to him after congratulating me.
"Why, you just said Gabe was one of the best. Plus his Dad will be taking care of the surgical part. The two of us together is enough," House says not wanting to deal with anyone else, like his normal antisocial self.
"House, I'm not asking you. I'm telling you. You either hire two more people by the end of the month or I will," Cuddy says walking away before House can respond.
"Fucking bullshit," House says grumbling while going back to drinking his coffee.
"So, any cases?" I say looking at House who shakes his head.
"Then, I'll see if I can jump into some surgeries," I say standing up as House just nods his head at my leave.
Later that day House came to me telling me that just like the TV show he is going to bring in a bunch of candidates to 'fight' for the two spots. Then he walks off planning his great plan as I just shake my head at the incoming headache for the next few weeks.
'Am I the new Foreman?' I think watching House walk away.
'Please no,' I then think realizing that I am the new Foreman.
