ALMH S2 Chapter 9: Breaking the Storm

The echoes of battle still lingered in the air as James stood atop the battered walls of Eberdeen, staring out at the twisted landscape beyond. The storm still churned overhead, swirling dark clouds that seemed to reach down and grasp at the earth with angry claws. Every so often, a crack of black lightning would split the sky, accompanied by the low, menacing rumble of thunder.

The eerie calm that had settled after the initial assault weighed heavily on him. Valek's forces had retreated momentarily, but James knew better than to believe the battle was over. The storm above was still very much alive, and as long as it persisted, Valek's army would only grow stronger.

"We're living on borrowed time," James muttered, his breath visible in the cold air.

Sasha approached, her face hardened with determination. "Yori's got something," she said, gesturing toward the group gathered below in the courtyard. "She thinks she's found the source of the storm."
