On Monday morning, Scott, Jim and Dwayne all recovered as they walked together to school seeing many people in the hallway as usual.
"So anyways, I can't spend more time with my John girls! Valentine's day is next week and I can't wait to give him all the box chocolates that I can find!" Laura talking to her cheerleading
friends.
"That's great, but Laura, I have a question? When are we going to have a chance to perform in the upcoming basketball games?" Laura's friend questions.
"Good question! I think we will-" Laura then stopped talking as she saw Scott and his friends walking in the hallway.
"The hell?" Laura thought to herself.
"Are you okay Laura?" Laura's friend looked concerned.
"Oh I'm okay! I'm just seeing someone who shouldn't be in school today."
"But Laura, ever since December, you seem to feel more sick everyday. Are you sure you're okay?"
"Of course! Just don't worry about it!" Laura gives her friend a fake smile.
Walking in the hallway, Scott and his friends try to find Bryan and Natalie to see whether they were doing okay. A couple of walks later, they finally approached them as they were talking around Natalie's hallway.
"Bryan, Natalie." Scott waved his hands at them.
"Guys! You're alright!" Bryan was happy to see them.
"Thank God!" Natalie ran towards Scott hugging him as well as Jim and Dwayne.
"So how was the battle? I heard it caused a lot of damage to the children's playground to the point where it was unusable." Bryan questions.
"Aw man. It was a fight that I've never expected it to be. I got one of my ribs cracked and Dwayne was unconscious until yesterday." Scott is still holding his injury.
"Damn." Bryan seemed shocked.
"But anyways, there was another thing that I wanted to find out." Scott reached in his pocket.
"Find out what?" Natalie questions.
Out of his pocket, Scott showed a cartoon picture that Isabelle drew to Natalie and Bryan.
[And they were horrified]
"Is this what she saw?" Bryan looked closer to the picture.
"Yes. She tried to tell us that she was hiding under the bleachers witnessing John's murderous rampage."
"But how did she have time to hide from him? Shouldn't she also be part of the you know. Dead girls." Bryan tries to be polite about the situation.
"Hey you better shut your damn mouth. She was lucky she survived from that bastard." Dwayne defends Isabelle.
"Sorry Dwayne, I didn't mean it that way. I'm just wondering why she was hiding there in the first place."
"You're right, I'm gonna talk to Isabelle more about the situation. Scott, you try to figure out more about the wooden tiles in the gym." Dwayne leaves the group to go after Isabelle.
"I will. Just interview her so it can help our investigation.." Scott yelled at Dwayne as he walked away.
"Wooden tiles?" Natalie questions.
"Yeah. While Isabelle saw John killing her club members, the blood that he spilled must've affected the wooden tiles in the gym and if the tiles do seem to be different, then there's something that John's doing that we aren't even noticing besides killing other people."
"Well he also likes to do things that seem very awkward." Natalie adds.
"Really, how so?" Bryan questions.
"Well back when I first came to Sunshine High, I was first welcomed by John in the theater. I remember reading my poetry book as some students were setting up the props for their upcoming assembly. But while reading. I was approached by someone behind me." Natalie describing her past.
While reading her poetry book, she then was approached by a chewing noise. The noise started to become louder and louder until she couldn't take it anymore.
Can't handle the noise, Natalie turned behind her. "Hey, can you keep it down, I'm reading."
But behind her, John was relaxing his feet on the theater seat as he ate fried chicken and a purple drink.
"You know, now I know why you people love this stuff." John swallowed his chicken.
"'You people?'" Natalie looks at him with disgust.
"Of course. Aren't black people known for eating chicken, watermelon and whatever you people do in 'da hood.'" John threw his empty bucket behind him.
"Okay. That's racist and secondly.."
"What's your name?" John asked Natalie.
"Not telling you. Since you like to be racist towards black people, I prefer not to talk to people like you." Natalie leaving the theater.
"Suit yourself, but I do warn you that I'll be asking you everyday until you spill." John gives a creepy smile towards Natalie.
"And he wasn't lying. He kept following me and asking about my name, as well as using extreme measures towards me." Natalie describing her back story.
"But this is where he took it too far." Natalie continues her backstory.
One day, as Natalie was finishing up her poetry book, she decided to head to her locker and get ready for her next class. However, it wasn't until John appeared behind her with a bunch of other people.
"Hey everyone! Guess what word I've learned in class. A special word that only her people can say. But I just don't understand why her people can say it but we can't. Since Sunshine High is a school of equality, I think we should also deserve to say it! Right guys?!" John wanted the crowd to cheer him on as the crowd did.
"So Natalie. You better say your name or else I'm going to make everyone call you that." John gave the same smile from before.
Natalie, being horrified, had no choice but to say give her name. "OKAY OKAY OKAY! It's Natalie."
"Natalie. I like that name. Why shouldn't you just say it when we first met?"
"Because you're a racist piece of shit. How do you people support this douchebag? He just tried to call me the n word." Natalie asked the whole crowd.
However, nobody answered as the crowd became silent.
"Oh Natalie, I'm not in the wrong, you are. I wanted to know your name and you decided to ignore me. I was just eager to know your name and you dare to ignore me, the King of High School?"
John then walked closer towards Natalie gripping her wrist. "So Natalie. Do you regret ignoring me?"
Being pressured by the crowd, Natalie was forced to surrender as she didn't have a choice. "Yes."
John released her. "Good. You and your people should know hot to fuck with people like me, a rich, handsome and the most popular kid in this school." John walked away from her.
"Since then, I was scared to stand up towards John. He would use his manipulation tactics on me again if I tried to speak out against him." Natalie coming back to the present.
"I agree with Natalie. As a gay person myself, I also think John can be weird towards others, including the LGBT community." Bryan sympathizes with Natalie.
"I guess you guys have it worse. But I can't believe that he hasn't aimed towards me in a while." Scott feeling sorry towards Natalie and Bryan.
"It's fine, but there is something that also weirded me out, which was that John was a senior back when I first came here a few years ago." Natalie remembers.
"He was?!" Scott was surprised.
"Then how is he a senior now? Shouldn't he have graduated at this point?"
"Who knows. Maybe he must've failed his senior year a couple of times." Bryan adds.
"Probably."
"Anyways, I'm going to head towards the gym to investigate. You guys should ask the students more about John and probably Laura.I want to see what John has been up to." Scott walked towards the gym.
"See ya Scott. So tell me more about your love interest." Bryan asked Natalie as she felt a bit puzzled.
Drinking some water from the water fountain, Isabelle saw Dwayne walking towards her while drinking from the fountain.
"Isabelle! Can we talk for a second?" Dwayne approached her.
Finishing her drink, Isabelle nodded yes as she was blushing a bit at Dwayne.
"So Isabelle, when you showed us that picture yesterday can you try to explain to me about it? Me, Scott and Jim are investigating the situation about the school and how suspicious John is."
To respond, Isabelle pointed at Dwayne's backpack.
"You want my backpack?" Dwayne gave her his backpack.
Isabelle opened his backpack picking up a random notebook as well as a pen. She would quickly write a long essay as she was fast when using the pen.
After a while, she would be finished and showed Dwayne what she wrote saying:
It was only the last week of school before winter break and I was so nervous to join the archery club as there were many girls who were already skilled in archery. I would usually hide under the bleachers to learn their skills and they were so good at using the bow. However, everything changed when the King of High School appeared from behind the captain and strangled every one of them. I was frightened to leave the gym. He wasn't done as he started to use some sort of scalpel to cut the skin and flesh of their bodies and remove their bones and central nervous system. After he literally pulled out every bone in their bodies, he suddenly left with their skin and flesh. Getting the chance, I ran out of the exit door of the gym hiding under my bed until it was evening. This is the reason why I don't like to talk because of how it saved my life during that time when hiding from him.
"Is that why you don't like to talk and like to stay quiet? Because if you did speak or made a noise, then John would've also taken your skin and flesh?" Dwayne looked worried for Isabelle.
Isabelle nodded yes and started to hug Dwayne as she felt scared.
"It's okay, it's gonna be okay. If John ever tries to hurt you, then I'll try to tackle him down before he even lays a finger on you." Dwayne comforts Isabelle.
"But thank you for giving me this information. I got to warn Scott about this."
In the gym, Scott texted Jim:
- Hey Jim, I'm going to send you pictures of the tiles, can you do some research about this?
- Yeah. I'll see what I can get on this.
Scott would investigate the wooden tiles in every part of the gym. He would look to the right to see where Isabelle was initially hiding. Heading behind the bleachers, Scott would convert to Isabelle's perspective on how she witnessed the slaughter. He would see that she witnessed it by the incident happening on the left of the gym, the same area where Scott's gym class is held.
Heading there, Scott would look at the wooden tiles. However, he would discover something very unusual.
"What the? The tiles here look new and shiny. But doesn't blood stain on wood?" Scott took a picture, then ran on the right side of the gym.
"That seems weird. The wooden tiles on this side seem to be a bit darker." Scott also took a picture, then ran back to the left of the gym.
"But this side seems to look new. As if John tried to cover this up. Maybe John is trying to cover this up from the students so they wouldn't panic or see him as suspicious." Scott put his hands on his chin.
"What the hell is going on here?" Scott being curious.
Suddenly, Scott was kicked from behind falling down on the floor.
"What the hell?!" Scott then saw that Laura kicked him as his body turned towards her.
"Why the hell aren't you dead?!" Laura is going to stomp on Scott's face.
"Why the hell were you following me?!" Scott blocked Laura's foot as he pushed her foot out of the way.
However, Laura did a backflip to prevent her from falling.
"I told Drake to kill you and your stupid friends. So why is it that you're still in Sunshine High?!"
"So you were the one who sent Drake and his gang after me. I knew something was off when he decided to kill me and my friends." Scott stood back up.
"So tell me Laura, are you more mad because you still want to satisfy John? Or is it because you're mad because I slapped that juice box out of your hand?"
"No dumbass. I'm mad because you should've been dead by now. That's what John wanted."
"But what about Troy? Troy wanted to run me over with his car because it was John's orders. Are you also doing it for John and not for yourself?"
"No! I personally want you dead because you made John upset!"
"Geez Laura can you please shut up about John for once and think for yourself!"
Laura stood silent to listen to what Scott was about to say.
"Laura, I'm going to warn you about this right now, but think for yourself and please take my word. I didn't kill Troy and you don't need to kill me in order for me to confess. Back in November, Troy was similar to you only following John's orders to kill me. However, he didn't really want to kill me, but was instead lost in his thoughts. For his death, I didn't kill him, but instead...was an unfortunate occurrence. I only fought him for self defense and the car exploding behind him came out of nowhere. I used to think he was an asshole for killing Ashley, but now I couldn't blame him for that."
"What the hell are you even lecturing me about?" Laura rolling her eyes.
"The thing I'm trying to point out is about your purpose. What do you really want for yourself? Are you really making John happy or is it another way for you to get attention from him? From my perspective, it seems that John doesn't give you much at all. Since the beginning of the year to right now, it looks like John is slowly neglecting you after Troy's death. I assume that John's lost in his own thoughts right now and hasn't been talking a lot as a popular kid himself."
"Well you're right about that." Laura agreed once with Scott.
"So Laura, I don't want you to end up like Troy, a person who was lost and didn't know who he was and only followed John's orders. I want you to see who you are and how we can resolve problems together. Maybe you can call off my day of judgment and we can settle this like real adults. Also before he died, Troy mentioned to me about 'making a contract.' I tried to ask Drake about it, but his violent behavior took over him. So what do you say, will you call this off and tell me more about this 'contract?'" Scott gave her his hand.
However Laura gave him a different response.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You think I will work with someone like you! You worthless piece of shit who killed Troy and defeated my bestfriend and vice captain of the basketball team! OH NO NO NO! Your reasoning is nothing more than a bunch of yapping! John is who I trust, not a damn outcast like you! But watch me Scott. John does love me and I bet he cares more about me than you do after you slapped my juice box out of my hand!"
"But Laura please. I'm only doing this to help you."
"Help me?! Oh I'm okay?! I think you being dead is something that will truly help me!" Laura gives Scott a creepy smile.
Suddenly, Laura started coughing severely as she tried to cover her cough with his hands. However, her hand would be covered in blood as she got a look at her palm.
"Laura. Are you okay?" Scott looked concerned for her.
Laura didn't respond as she just left the gym sticking her middle finger at him.
"What's her problem?" Scott sees Laura walking away.
Meanwhile while walking home, Laura looked at her bloody hand as she thought about what Scott was saying to her.
"What's my purpose? Is it true that John is just using me?" Laura questions as she would later head back to John's mansion wanting to question him.
