"Son, it seems like you heard from your father." Alex's mom said while approaching Alex who was lying on the bed.
"Just so you know, if you don't want to, don't force yourself, me and my husband will respect your decision. And if he doesn't I'm going to beat the crap out of him" Atura, which is his mom's name, started saying this before having thoughts of bullying her husband.
"Sure, Mom, I already made my decision."
"I knew you'd refuse, you don't want to be tied up by political ties."
"I will accept."
"huh? I didn't expect this from my son. You know you will be under the eyes of everyone with this decision."
"Of course, I know Mom. But who would be dumb enough to refuse a beautiful wife handed over to you like that?"
"You! I didn't raise you like that!"
"Hahaha! Well said, brother!" said his oldest brother, who is 25 years old and has been listening to their conversation from the start. "How can a real man refuse an offer like that?"
Their mom, seeing her three children talking and smiling at each other like that couldn't be more proud, as other families would have the children fight each other over the succession of the title.
"If only I was handed a wife over like that!" the middle child, who was 16, said.
The mother, smiling at their interactions suddenly had her smile frozen when she heard him say that.
"You already have a wife you lusty bastard!" she said while slapping his head.
They all soon said goodbyes to each other and left.
Now alone in his room, Alex took a book from under his desk.
This book was written in a language no one from this world would understand as it came from Earth.
It was all the theories and experiments Alex has been inventing since the moment he had a bit of alone time.
He took inspiration from both Western fantasy magic and Eastern fantasy cultivation to theorize the best way to cultivate.
This world's power system was similar to what you'd find in cultivation novels, but the architecture and hierarchic system were like those from medieval Europe.
After all this time, he came to conclusions.
The dantians, located in the solar plexus didn't make much sense as a location.
The circles of magic that you'd read about in the magic novels made more sense, as they were located at the heart, a place where everything from your body relied on, but what if there was somewhere even more important than it?
So Alex began theorizing on how to move the dantian to his head. Yes, his head. More precisely his brain.
You might ask why, as it was pretty dangerous.
Well, the brain is you. It's your existence. It's what is making your heart beat, your muscles move, your eyes see, and make you feel emotions.
So if you made it the base of your power, wouldn't that upgrade your overall existence?
While really sketchy and only possible in theory, Alex wanted to try.
.
.
.
But before Alex could start practicing what he theorized, he needed to create his own technique. A pipe dream for a 3 years old child who never touched a cultivation technique yet.
So Alex went back to the library but didn't stop at the usual shelves, he dove deeper, toward the technique section.
For the next two years, Alex read all the martial techniques in the library.
From the strongest techniques of the family to the weakest and most common, analyzing every step of how they were made.
He was now 5 years old.
He finally created the technique, and called it 'The origin of all'.
'Quite a grand name for a technique that might not even work.' thought Alex.
He sat down and started reciting the technique.
The first step of every technique is forming the dantian.
The method to form it all differ a bit between all of them, but they all basically make you feel the qi in the atmosphere, gather it in your solar plexus, and form some type of reservoir where it can all be stored.
But Alex, as he wanted to do it in his brain, needed to develop something else, as there was no 'space' to create a dantian in your brain.
So he needed to resort to extremes and near-psycho ideas.
What he ended up with was a way to change your brain matter slowly until, at the end of the technique, you changed your whole brain into a 'qi-brain', acting as both your brain and dantian.
With it came benefits, like the speed of thoughts, reflexes, and potential movement speed at near-infinite speed, senses boosted at inhuman levels, be it eyesight, hearing, qi-sense (a way to sense the qi in your surroundings, making you feel anything in the radius you are sensing the qi in.), and more.
But it obviously came with downsides too.
Just the mere fact that the technique is so dangerous and suicidal that any minuscule errors mean, in the best-case scenario, a change in emotions or personality, and in the worst-case scenario, becoming a vegetable, or just dying.
But he didn't care, if he succeeded, the path to becoming the strongest wasn't far off, and as it was his second life, he wanted to make the most out of it.
But he waited before he started practicing the technique.
It still needed tempêring and adjustments, and kids in this world won't start cultivating before being 10 years old, as they needed the body and organs to be somewhat developed before they could start.
He still had 5 years to fine-tune his technique.
