Ophelia's Secret (2)

When Dane and Remi returned to Oakswood Academy, night had fallen.

Standing just inside the main gate was the Headmaster. His long red hair hung loose, blowing gently in the light breeze. A small smile appeared on his lips upon seeing them. "You two are returning awfully late."

"I didn't know it was the Headmaster's job to personally wait for students who are out," Dane shot back, on the defensive.

The Headmaster's toothless smile widened. "But of course, a Headmaster should always be aware of where their students are."

Remi ignored the weird atmosphere, more worried about other things. "I'm sorry we were out so late, Headmaster Arien. It won't happen again."

The Headmaster's eyes flicked to Remi for a second, their irises reminiscent of liquid gold. "Please be sure that it won't." The Headmaster then turned around, the skirts of his robes billowing around him.
