Jihan sighed.
He absolutely hated the first phase of the rift. He silently shifted towards the middle of the metro and held on to one of the poles tightly while everyone around him were busy expressing their theories towards the current situation. Jihan silently bowed his head glued his body to the pole, closed his eyes and waited.
There was a reason Jihan chose to be inside a metro for his first phase.
Crack-Rumble
"Kyaaaaaaaaa"
The metro was very literally lifted from the track. People fell down due to gravity and slid across the floor. The metro turned into chaos but then the gravity was suddenly restored. There was a sudden silence around. Screams could be heard from the outside making everyone turn towards the window. Finding themselves quite literally in the sky.
"What the fuck is happening down there?"
Jihan too moved towards the window. People were running and screaming below, land cracked and tilted on them. People screamed at people above for help, as they gave up on struggle buried in the land inside. It was as if he was watching plate tectonics theory documentary. Just that this was real. Plates of earth breaking like shards and overlapping on each other forcefully fitting itself like a puzzle and the ant like humans who could not avoid the tragedy, some ran for their lives and some got buried beneath them.
Except for the rumbling and the screaming from the outside that were so loud that they could even be heard inside a metro, there was pin drop silence.
"Holy Shit this really is happening."
Jihan observed the people who were looking at the scene partly in horror and in awe, at the great powers, some had relief on their faces thankful that they avoided this tragedy while some were distressed, maybe for their family members that might or might not be safe from this disaster.
Then the felt the metro moving forward, Jihan went towards the pole and hugged it like a koala while watching the scenes outside. There was absolute destruction everywhere but there was something strange.
"...."
Jihan felt weird that they were already in the world building stage yet there were no zombies.
Jihan suddenly felt palpitation in his heart and had a strange conjecture.
'What if my transmigration was the cause of this difference? Or maybe I am a really important character for saving the world but unfortunately the original host died and thus god gave me a chance to protect myself and save the world?'
Then shouldn't he as the main character organize his own team.
Thinking like this Jihan decided he really needed to do this and raised his head as he was about to speak he looked at the people around him, suddenly he discovered that while he was in his own delusions people had already formed their own groups unconsciously.
The middle aged fathers were standing together discussing among themselves and were telling each other their contacts from army who could help them, the ladies some with children came together as they cried while talking about their families and consoled each other while the unaware children looked out of the window in wonder.
A group of college girls and boys introduced themselves as medical students and took charge in helping the wounded and discussed their family whereabouts as they treated the wounded with shaking hands. A group of tech geeks gathered up as they tried to connect to the internet and finally there were a bunch of nerds who were giving out references from comics and anime as they made assumptions on what would happen next and what they should do to get their family to safety.
"...."
Jihan blushed silently as he tried to shut up his inner voice telling him that he haD 8th grader syndrome and hugged the pole like a koala and bowed his head down.
Suddenly everyone sensed themselves falling and everyone screamed. Jihan grit his teeth as he held the pole as tightly as he could, everyone was currently on roof due the gravity and then it finally stopped and everyone fell down.
Jihan immediately looked out of the window among the moans and groans as he sighed at his luck.
'Ah no seriously, not in the middle of Goddamned Amazon rainforest, this will be nightmare mode he can't handle this.'
"What the fuck how are we in the middle of a forest?"
"Oh my what should we do now?"
"Looks like there is a bridge beneath us, we are basically on it."
"How many days can we go on without food and water?"
"I have some in my baby bag."
"Oh no how could we even occupy a baby's ration?"
"Oi geeks, what the hell is going on try to send a signal for help?"
"That will be impossible."
"Hey didn't that system or something said it would help us? Where is it now?"
"Agreed it should take responsibility of its words and get us out of here."
"Oi you guys try harder!"
"Listen here sir, the internet was already turned off during countdown, after that we have been trying for hours to connect somewhere, its of no use."
Amidst this chaos someone announced with a confidence.
"These guys are right, plus there is no way anyone can help us."
A man walked over from the tmetro bogey besides us. He was wearing a white shirt and some black pants. His looks could be considered above average. There seemed to be people following him. They looked like his lackeys.
Jihan the transmigrator had yet to fully assimilate all this but the people around him already adapting to the changes around them and some even obtained lackeys.
"...."
He was a failure to his all transmigrating brothers and sisters.
"We don't know what the situation is but I believe this is not something human. Maybe something like an alien invasion, who knows, so I am sure the government might not be of any he-"
"Na- Ouch, That hurt"
The man flinched as he turned around and stepped aside.
"I mean come on on do we look Alien?"
A man with the face of a monkey and a body of human asked them with a chuckle. Everyone hushed at his words.
"...."
"Okay, maybe a little bit but whatever suck it up. Na- ahem."
The monkey like man was wearing a proper tailcoat suit. He had a guitar like instrument on his back and another in his hands which looked like two slabs of wood bound together.
Jihan flinched.
"...."
He suddenly couldn't look at the monkey straight as he remembered what he will do in near future.
"Na- ahem, So now I will start with the introduction, I or we, that is people in suits who guide you are what you will call messenger of Gods. We are task-"
"Oi monkey."
Jihan flinched as he looked over at the man behind him.
"We don't care about this introduction right now, it is more important for me to get home and look for my old mother, I need to know she is safe. All this bullshit can wait."
Jihan looked at the bulky man behind him. He looked young and had a very....bully like face? He gave of the aura of a bully with his arms crossed, frowning eyebrows, bulging veins and his wide stance along with his duffel bag. He was probably going to a gym.
Jihan looked back at the messenger and flinched again.
The monkey man had gloom all over his face. Jihan watched as everyone there turned into chaos as they started voicing their needs.
"Yes me too! My father is at home alone, he is paralyzed!"
"My children are still at school"
"Hey my uncle is at hospital he needs to have someone with him."
"Me too."
Jihan looked at the monkey man and watched as he pulled the wooden slabs apart and was readying to clap them together.
"...!"
Jihan felt he should stop him.
"Ah wait a second....Mr. Messenger sir."
Everyone looked back at Jihan making him flinch.
Guess he should say bye bye to hiding his identity and shit.
Jihan sighed as he opened his mask surprising everyone.
"That- Mr. Messenger, could you tell us in what way the system will help us."
The gloom between the monkey's eyes scattered.
"Ah- yes Good Question!"
Jihan sighed in relief.
'It was easy to distract him.'
"So as I was saying before, the 'system' is responsible for providing you with identities since you obviously can't make one for yourself currently. Na- This identity will help you participate into all the quests that will prepare you for the disaster you will face soon. Also doing quests will help you earn stars, these stars, which in your language are called money, can help you buy items from store which you can access in your mobile phones once you have your identities. We are not responsible for anymore than this Na-ahem"
"Then what about our fam-"
"Why should I care Na-?"
The impassiveness in his voice chilled the hearts of everyone in the metro. Those piercing apathetic eyes that looked at them finally made Jihan feel like he was in a danger. Jihan felt that until now he was in a state of derealization, a mental state where you feel detached from your surroundings. But right now he suddenly had this spine chilling realization that he was in this situation, He was a part of this.
"Okaayy Now I am tired so let's get this over with Na-ahem."
The being spoke again.
Then suddenly everyone's phone screen lit up.
It basically had your name on top and your body condition.
"...."
Jihan sighed when he saw his below average stats. Soon after that he flinched.
"...!"
Finally something!
He looked at the stamina level which had infinity tag on it and felt proud.
At least he had the ability to run fast in the face of danger.
But then he got puzzled at the a weird bar like thing in his profile.
IMMERSION
0/100%
"...?"
Jihan was confused.
"Huh this is like game stats."
"I see so we can raise our levels huh."
"...."
Looks like no one else had this.
Jihan had a weird feeling about this.
"There there settle down everyone. Now I will provide you with your stars! Hmm how about this, I turn everyone's metro card or token into a what you say umm- yes! a credit card for stars. Your current balance will be your stars! Good Good this will do!"
"B-but won't that be unfair for s-"
"Oi"
The monkey said in a voice that made everyone flinch.
"This world is unfair. So stop whining."
With that he flicked his fingers and everyone's metro card or token turned white and had words 'STARS' written on it on Bold. While the number of stars were displayed in the mobile.
Jihan calmly checked the balance and pushed his phone in his pocket along with his card. After that he flinched when he saw the monkey man look directly at him and grinned when he saw him looking over.
"Na- ahem I didn't check fuck, now I am in trouble."
With that he giggled.
"....."
He looked like he had a lot of fun with this situation.
"A-ah excuse me Messenger sir?"
Jihan looked over at a woman with a kind in her arms and swallowed a sigh.
'He didn't like this part.'
"Yes Yes! Sweet lady, what's up, Na-ahem."
"T-that what about the kids?"
"Ah? What do you mean?"
"A-ah I meant the children? Those who don't have a phone? H-how-"
"Hmm, I see."
The monkey suddenly looked cold, as he looked deep in thought.
"Well those with no identity are basically not a person so."
Jihan wore his mask back and then watched the messenger clap the wooden slabs with a clap. The head of the child in the women's arm burst as her eyes widened.
A chill enveloped the metro.
The women looked ahead with her eyes widened as the headless body her arms leaned forward towards the woman as if it was still alive and recognized it's safe haven, it had it's hands clutched around the women's neck even after loosing it's life. Blood gushed blood like a fountain on the women's face as she did not dare look down.
"Then, it shouldn't matter if it lives or not right?"
The monkey said with a warm smile. It's eyes void of any light.
With that the whole metro erupted in screams.
