DARK BLUE uniforms stood against the golden lights of the street lamp, there was a sturdy couple surveying the zone, but Adda was certain that their focus was on her apartment, for their eyes kept settling there for long. The vehicles, two cars to be specific, were dead silent and the complementary lights shut down. That explained why she hadn’t heard them before. For a moment, she wished to turn around and come back later, but where could she go? She had had an exhausting day and, today, that seemed to be more than enough to incite the tears to build up in her lacrimals and start rolling down her face against her will. She felt horrible and just wanted to go home and sleep. Once she was able to serenate herself, wiping with the back of her hand the remnants of her distress, she forced her feet to move her closer to the building.
A police woman noticed her and stood guarded until Adda was a short distance away.
“Anythin’ I can help ya’ with?”
