CHAPTER 2

Shadow was feeling embarrassed as she sat down to write her math test. Her mind was still reeling with confusion about what had just happened. "How does this even happen?" she wondered silently as she struggled to focus on the exam. Despite her best efforts, the test didn't go as well as she had hoped.

As the bell rang, signaling the end of the exam, Shadow walked out of her classroom with a heavy heart. Suzain noticed her friend's troubled expression and rushed to catch up with her.

"Aii, where are you even going? Wait for me! What happened?" Suzain asked, concerned.

"Nothing, I don't know what's happening. It's just so weird," Shadow replied, trying to make sense of the strange events.

"What is weird?" Suzain inquired.

"Everything is weird. Suddenly, I woke up on the 18th of October? But how is that even possible?" Shadow expressed her bewilderment.

Suzain was puzzled. "What are you even talking about? You were in the classroom all 20 days. Come on, and yeah, you still haven't fulfilled your promise about that book and the game," she reminded Shadow.

"Oh, that stupid game?" Shadow retorted.

Suzain corrected her, "That's not stupid, okay."

"Fine, what do you want me to do then?" Shadow asked, exasperated.

Suzain replied, "Well, let me explain everything about that elevator game."

They found a quiet corner and sat down. Suzain began to share what she knew about the mysterious "Elevator World" game. She told Shadow that it was not just an ordinary game but a supernatural ritual that some believed could connect different worlds.

The rules of the "Elevator World" game were peculiar and demanded adherence to ensure a safe and successful experience:

Start the Game at Midnight: The game must be initiated precisely at the stroke of midnight. This timing was believed to align with the ethereal energies and facilitate the connection to the parallel world.

Turn off your mobile devices and put away anything that could break your concentration: Disconnecting from electronic distractions was crucial to maintaining a focused and undisturbed connection with the mysterious realm.

Make sure you're alone: The presence of others during the game could disrupt the delicate balance of the ritual. To avoid interference, participants must undertake the journey solo.

Invite the Passenger: The "Passenger" referred to an otherworldly entity or spirit believed to be the guide between dimensions. Inviting the Passenger was the catalyst for starting the game.

Don't get out at any of the floors: Participants were strictly forbidden from exiting the elevator at any floor during the journey. Doing so could lead to unforeseen consequences and disturb the connection with the Elevator World.

Upon reaching any floor, check your surroundings. If anything seems off, even the smallest detail, immediately proceed to another floor: Vigilance was paramount during the game. If any aspect of the environment seemed unusual or unsettling, the player must quickly move to another floor to avoid potential dangers.

Reach the Lobby to beat the Game: The ultimate objective of the game was to reach the Lobby of the building. Successfully returning to the original starting point signified victory over the Elevator World and its enigmatic challenges.

Shadow's initial fear began to dissipate as she heard Suzain's explanation. The idea of a lady ghost walking into the elevator sounded like a spooky tale, but she couldn't help but find it amusing.

"Ha-ha-ha! Oh my God, that's hilarious!" Shadow burst into laughter. "You know you're such a kid sometimes, Suzain. Always coming up with these crazy stories."

Suzain, feeling a bit annoyed by Shadow's laughter, responded with a hint of anger, "Okay then, prove it! If you think it's all fake, prove it!"

Shadow paused for a moment, trying to think of a way to prove her point. She knew it was just a game, and ghosts and supernatural beings didn't exist in reality. But seeing how serious Suzain was, she decided to play along.

"Alright, I'll prove it to you," Shadow said with a mischievous grin. "Let's go ahead with the game tonight. I'll show you that there's nothing to be scared of."

Suzain's eyes widened in surprise. She hadn't expected Shadow to take her challenge seriously. "Wait, you mean it? You're going to play the Elevator World game?" she asked, a mix of excitement and apprehension in her voice.

"Yes, I mean it. We'll do it together, and you'll see it's just a harmless little adventure," Shadow reassured her friend, although she was unsure herself of what they would actually encounter.

As the evening descended upon Shadow's house, she felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. She knew that the "Elevator World" game would be her biggest challenge yet. While she was determined to prove her friend Suzain wrong about the supernatural claims, a part of her couldn't shake off the unease she felt about the darkness and encountering unfamiliar people.

After completing her studies and having an early dinner, Shadow prepared herself mentally for the daring adventure ahead. She wanted to be ready for whatever awaited her in the mysterious realms of the game.

Before leaving, she sought permission from her parents for a night out. She explained that she was going to spend time with her friend Suzain and would return home later tomorrow evening. Her parents, knowing Suzain well and trusting their daughter, gave their consent.

With her bag packed and phone in hand, Shadow called Suzain to coordinate their meeting.

"Damnn girl, where are you? It's 7 PM, come on!" Shadow impatiently said into the phone.

"Yeah, I'm on my way, just picking something to eat," Suzain replied.

"Okay, let's head directly to school then, right?" Shadow confirmed their plan.

"Yep, straight to school," Suzain agreed, the anticipation evident in her voice.

They hung up, knowing they were about to embark on an extraordinary journey together.

As Shadow waited for Suzain to arrive, she couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and fear. The thought of the unknown and supernatural aspects of the game still lingered in her mind, causing a sense of unease. However, she reminded herself that it was just a game and that there was no such thing as ghosts or lady spirits in real life.

As Suzain finally arrived, they exchanged smiles that hid the nervousness they both felt. With a reassuring glance at each other, they knew they were in this together, no matter what lay ahead.

The night was young, and as they made their way to school, the streetlights cast long shadows, adding an eerie ambiance to the atmosphere. Shadows' heart pounded with anticipation, and her mind buzzed with curiosity about the game's secrets.

Little did they know that this night would be unlike any other, taking them on a journey through the realms of the extraordinary. The "Elevator World" awaited them, with its enigmatic challenges and mysteries that would test their courage, friendship, and perception of reality. Together, they were about to step into a world where the boundaries between fantasy and truth blurred, and the true essence of the game would reveal itself in ways they never thought possible.
