Demon Sighting

(Jason's POV)

"Jason, what's wrong?" I heard Karameel call out

I turned to see her walk up to the balcony as she was buttoning up her shirt. I also noticed she had put her panties on.

"Hm?" I said

She had a drowsy look on her face as she blushed slightly, "What's the matter?" She asked, "Who's voice did I hear?"

I was going to respond to that when there was a loud howling.

I turned to look at the sky, the howling sounded like it came from the forest, close enough to be near the town. It sounded like a beast's howling, there was something vicious and eerie about it. I swear I heard it once before, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

Karameel widened her eyes is surprise, "That howling..." She said, "J-Jason, go to the town entrance! I'll get changed, meet me there."

I nodded, "Okay."

I then turned around and snapped my fingers, using War Magic's requip function to put on some clothes.

I looked up at the night sky as the howling started again, "Wonder what that thing is..." I said as I jumped over the balcony and towards the ground, "Felicity, let me know if there's activity near the ship."

"Roger." She said, "Will you investigate?"

"Yea." I said, "Something off about that howling..."

Several minutes later, I stood at the town entrance staring down the road and off into the darkness where it cut through the forest. The howling was starting again, sounded like a massive beast was around.

"It's here....again.." I heard a voice say

I turned to see the old man from a couple of days ago, the one who wasn't afflicted with madness. He was slowly walking up to me as his knees and hands shook, holding his wooden cane.

"Old man." I said, "Why're you awake at this hour?"

"Was looking after my niece..." He said as he stood next to me, "She's got the madness....she got it bad...."

I looked at him, he had a tired look on his eyes, he wasn't wearing his sunglasses.

"You know what that thing is?" I asked him about the howling

He nodded, "Yes..." He said, "It usually comes from time to time.....but since the man arrived, it only howls in the night."

"What is it?" I asked

Before he could respond, I heard Karameel approach.

"Allan!" She said

I turned to see she was wearing her clothes as she walked towards us.

"Karameel.." Allan said, "It's back..."

"Jason and I will go." She said as she looked at him, "Go back inside please."

"Young man." Allan said seriously, "Whatever you do, do not kill it. It did you no harm."

I frowned, "What.."

Karameel grabbed my hand and pulled me alongside her as she began to walk.

"Go back inside, Allan." Karameel said, "We'll go."

************************************************

"Quietly...." Karameel said as we were crouched behind some bushes, "We don't want to startle it."

I looked past the bushes, "What is that thing?" I said referring to a massive shadow that was in a clearing, "It's gotten quiet now."

"Shh.." She said, "I'll explain in a bit....just..."

As the moonlight hit the shadow, I was able to make out its characteristics much more clearly. It was a massive humanoid creature with red scaly skin. It had 4 arms with claws, a massive horned head with 3 amber eyes, it had a large mouth with jagged teeth.

"What the..." I said

What was significant about it was that it didn't have a lower half, like it was ripped off, blood slowly spewing out of the bottom of its waist as it dragged it's body around with its arms.

It then reared its head back and let out a howl, shaking the ground and the trees around it.

Karameel and I covered our ears as the sound hit us, slightly trembling our bodies.

"Karameel..." I started

"Shush!" She said, "Now! The ice shard on its side, pull it out!!!"

I looked at where she meant. On it's right side, underneath it's pectoral, there was a massive ice shard that was sticking out, blood pouring from it.

"Go!" Karameel said, "As you pull it out, jump away!"

I nodded, "Right."

I lunged at the creature quickly, and landed on it's body as I clutched the ice shard. The moment I came in contact with it, I felt my skin burn due to the intense cold.

"What the hell.." I said as I activated Frost God Slayer Magic

Using Frost God Slayer's ice immunity, I pulled out the shard out it's body and jumped away as I narrowly avoided the massive arm swipe at me.

I landed on the ground and watched as the creature was howling in pain.

"Nice!" Karameel said as she approached me

I dropped the massive Ice shard and watched as it shattered.

"Karameel.." I said looking at the creature that frantically swung it's arms around, "What..."

Before she could respond, I hear a deep feminine voice bellow.

"Oga!!!" She said, "Calm down!!"

"Oh, she's here." Karameel said

I turned to see a massive female humanoid creature, she too had red-scaly skin with four arms and three eyes. She happened to have long and dark blue hair as well. She was really massive, and incredibly muscular, but was nowhere near the size of the other one who was at least three times its size.

She walked up to us while holding a massive kanobo club in her left hands, "Karameel." She said with a deep voice, "Thank you. It appeared again. And this human...."

"Igora." Karameel said, "This is Jason, a visitor. He's been helping me."

The creature looked at me, "Jason, huh?" she said, "I....Oga!! Calm down dammit!!"

I turned to see the massive creature named Oga suddenly ease as it stopped flailing it's arms around.

"Geez...." Igora said, "That boy...."

I looked at her, "What are you?"

She scowled, her three eyes looking at me, "What am I?" She said, "You're quite rude."

Karameel chuckled nervously, "Jason....this here is Igora..." She started, "She's.."

"A Demon." Igora said, "Oga and I are Demons."

I narrowed my eyes, "You don't look like Etherious."

"Cause we're not." Igora said, "We're part of an ancient Demon race called the Ifrit. Our kind used to battle dragons in the old times. But now, we're reduced to an endangered species..."

"Y=Yes.." Karameel said, "Igora and her younger brother Oga, here, moved to this island years ago. Alongside other members of different demon races that weren't....you know....dangerous.."

So there's more demon races other than the Etherious? I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I looked back at the massive Oga, "And he's...."

"Oga was born special." Igora said, "Our people are naturally larger than Humans but Oga was a deviant. Born with a much larger body but his mind never fully developed past its child state. So he often acts like a wild beast. He's usually gentle.."

"Yea..." Karameel said

Oga looked at me with a nasty scowl as he let out a snort.

"Guess he doesn't like me." I said

"He's distrusting of strangers." Igora told me

"What happened to him?" I asked, "His lower half..."

"When the Man came..." Karameel said, "Oga, Igora, and several other demons that the townspeople treated nicely attacked him to protect them."

"Yea." Igora said, "Who would've thought that he was a Devil Slayer. Wielding magic specifically for our kind...and not just that....the famed Calamitous Edge...."

I looked back at her, "What?"

I was surprised she name-dropped that weapon.

She looked at me, "A Halberd forged by the blood of the Eclipsed God." She said, "The Ifrit know of this weapon. Wielded by Endless, The Hound, The Calamitous Edge was once in the possession of the Ancient Ifrit King Surtr. He used it to defeat his enemies but never fully mastered."

I looked at her, "You sound like you know a lot..." I said

"I'm much older than you thin. Oga and I." She continued, "We also know something that Karameel probably didn't know."

I looked at Karameel who was confused to what she said as well as I.

"W-What?" She said, "Igora.."

"Mercphobia...that fool...." Igora said as she lifted her kanobo towards me, "He let his assistant be in the vicinity of a wielder of his magic."

Igora looked at me with a serious scowl as she took a step forward.

"What?" I frowned as I felt Oga crawl towards me

I then felt several other presences. I turned to see several glowing eyes that were in the shadows of the trees and bushes.

"Demons..." I said

"Indeed." Igora said, "Human. You use Martial Arts Magic, do you not?"

I looked at her with surprise, "W-What?"

She glared at me, "Of course. I recognize that bastard's magic anywhere." She said as she released an aura,

"You're not welcomed here."
