Chapter 8 : " okay you're clever "

The bracelet's deam light helped me see the path until I got to the old chapel . It looked deserted and dusty I could afford to cough in such a time anyone might hear me . I don't even know where I'm getting all this courage from cause I know myself I'm not that brave. I'm afraid of the dark . And being inside the hallway heading towards the chapel is something else .

Surprisingly when i got there the door wasn't locked it seemed like it had been forcefully opened ,and the handle seemed loose . But by who? Who else is trying to find the answers ? Or is it someone looking for the bracelet? Questions kept ringing in Keisha's mind . She lightly pushed the door open revealing a whole chamber filled with ancient books , a lot of dusty scrolls , calligraphy images , including crystal pedestals ,how strange?

The light in the chamber was dim enabling her to see a bit . The dust was making it hard for Keisha to breathe but she had to be strong. She went from shelf to shelf but no book made sense including the scrolls. She got frustrated. Why did I think this was going to be just walk in the park just because a woman appeared and showed me the way Keisha thought .

She had one last shelf to check . The one at the far end of the chamber. Her heart was racing she felt cold sweat fall on her forehead but she had no option she had to check the last shelf . She breathed in and out and headed towards the dark end ,when she got near the last shelf it was a mess ,the books weren't arranged in order . Its like someone was searching for something and left it like this . Keisha started looking at the titles but none of them made sense . Most books had latin and Greek titles .

She was on the verge of giving up when she noticed a book at the end of the shelf which looked like it was about to fall . Without thinking twice she went and pulled it out , opening the first only to see a map . The map had a red X marked on it indicating the old chapel . Keisha's heart raced. Was this a trap or was it a sign .

" Ilario atleast be useful, let's help each other ,you know more about magic and how things in your realm work unlike me I'm a mortal and you are from a magical background or whatever" Keisha said feeling rather enraged . She seemed to be the only one doing everything. Ofcourse Ilario can't be that useful but he can see and feel because his spiritual senses are connected to the bracelet..

. " Keisha you are the brains in this whole thing I'm just guiding as long as I'm locked up in this bracelet I can't be of much help but I'll try " Ilario said feeling like a huge burden right now.

" I know I'm sorry ,do you have any idea as to what this map is about"? . Keisha asked eager to know . " Well no but it's very much familiar, maybe it's .... Ilario didn't get to finish when Keisha heard something that sounded like footsteps walking in the hallway .

She had no option but to go the darker side behind the shelf and hide while holding her breathe . She was sure that it might be the security just cross checking. The flashlight soon lit the chamber for a while ,and eventually disappeared as she heard the footsteps fading . Keisha knew this was her cue to leave and go back to the boarding house.

She walked up to door and looked both ways and saw no one and walked fast but quietly. She let out a loud sigh after getting out of the old chapel building. Keisha ran and never stopped until she got inside the hallway of whispering pines.

When she was now close to her dorm ,she heard some footsteps . She knew walking fast wouldn't work so she had to be neutral it wasn't time to panick . " Miss Keisha where are you coming from at 1:25 am ?" She heard someone behind her asking.

She plastered a fake nervous smile as she turned . " Umm ...I'm coming from the toilet ma'am. " Keisha says .." the toilet with a book ... Really. " The boarding house teacher asked with a questioning look on her face ... " Yes ma'am I was reading in the toilet. I didn't want my roommates to complain about my noise while I'm flipping pages. " Keisha answered with her face expressions remaining neutral.

" Oh is it. ? Head straight to your room and sleep it's your first day and already you being extra . Let this be the last time. When you are here it's light out at ten pm . " Ma'am Cleopatra said in a warning voice . " Yes ma'am" Keisha said and walked fast to her room and got inside ,put the book under her pillow and forced herself to sleep.

Urgh the continuous ringing alarm in the boarding house almost made her to have a bitch fit . But she controlled herself and woke up she had to prepare for school . She had answers to find aswell . She quickly prepared went down to the dining hall ,got her breakfast and sat down to eat well this wasn't the kind of breakfast she was used to . It was just dry breakfast,a cup of tea ,3 slices of bread and a boiled egg.

" Good morning. Hope you slept well " a girl with a bright smile said. " Yes I slept well , morning . " Keisha smiled but she had a questioning look on her face. " Ohh where are my manners I'm Tori Decker ,we are in the same room . I was not around when you were introduced to the others " .

" Oh is it. I'm Keisha. How come you know me when you weren't there during the introduction " Keisha asked. " Okay you're clever . Well I saw you come in the room last night . I'm a light sleeper so hence I heard you come in and saw you . Your smart watch was on , thas how I saw your face ." Tori explained.

Keisha examined her for a while then forced a smile . " Oh yeah my watch was on . I didn't want to switch on the light , because some of the roommates would have woke up . " Keisha said feeling uneasy. The light Tori thought was from the smart watch was actually from the bracelet,which is strange ain't it just me who can see when the bracelet is glowing ... " Umm anyways Tori it was nice meeting you,see you later " Keisha said packing her breakfast in her school and headed to the door for inspection and headed to the school premises.

"Here she is , like Keisha ain't we friends "? Mandy asked with one eyebrow raised. " What do you mean? Keisha seemed confused .

" Well wasn't it important to tell us that you now living in the boarding house. Your mom told us since your phone has been off the whole weekend. " Nora said looking straight at Keisha . " Urgh guys I'm so sorry I was busy settling in so I rarely had time to look at my phone. " Keisha said feeling a little guilty

"Well it's all cool . Just don't keep us in the dark again." Zelda said . " I promise I won't . Anyways what were you guys up to . " Keisha asked trying to ease the mood. " Urgh nothing like usual just trying to read things that keep becoming difficult to understand " Mandy answered . "Have you written the assignment " Zeld asked ." Well it's due tomorrow so Iiwrite it tonight during study time " Keisha answered taking her breakfast to eat.

" Girl what the hell are you eating ? Nora asked and soon erupted with laughter . " Oh please let's not go there ,this my life no so I have to get used to it. " Keisha says . " Well still you haven't told us the real reason as to why you chose to stay at the boarding house " Nora said

" Well it's just that ummm...well .. just then the pure mathematics teacher got in the class . "Settle down students and take out your text books " Mrs Jenny Nyn said getting ready to write on the white board. Keisha sighed ,the maths teacher had really saved the day . But she knew Nora is not the type to let something go unanswered. She had to come up with something.

The lesson was dragging it was a whole one hour lesson which was too much . Keisha felt frustrated so she quietly took out the book she got in the chamber and focused on the map . So confusing",she murmurs. " I think I remember what the map is about " Ilario abruptly said .

Which startled Keisha causing her to curse loudly directing all the attention to her. " Ms Keisha is everything okay ?" Mrs Jenny Nyn asked . " Yes ma'am I'm sorry for disturbing " Keisha says apologetic. Nora shrugged her shoulders while looking at Keisha as if asking ' what's going on with you?"

" Ilario explain" Keisha said inwardly feeling curious.
